Los Angeles, CA (November 14, 2011) – At the start of Season X, World Poker Tour® unveiled a 2011 schedule that showcased new stops and international expansion. Nearing the halfway point of its historic tenth season, WPT is releasing an equally impressive 2012 schedule. With eight Main Events lined up next year including new domestic and international tour stops, World Poker Tour continues to rapidly grow and expand around the globe.
Coming up in the U.S., Season X will feature many of poker’s biggest events. WPT will return in February to Commerce Casino for the world-renowned Los Angeles Poker Classic. In March, Season X visits San Jose, CA for the popular Bay 101 Shooting Star. April will become a milestone month for Florida poker, as WPT arrives for back-to-back televised Main Events – the second-ever Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown and the debut WPT tournament in the brand new Jacksonville Poker Room.
Demonstrating its commitment to European expansion, the stunning WPT Champions Cup will head overseas for three Main Events, featuring new stops in lively Dublin, Ireland (January 5 – 8, 2012) and gorgeous Venice, Italy (February 6 – 11, 2012). Similar to this year’s Grand Prix de Paris, WPT Venice will be filmed for broadcast on Fox Sports Net in the U.S. World Poker Tour returns to Austria for WPT Vienna (March 26 – 31, 2012), which set the record last year for largest field at a WPT Main Event in Europe.
WPT Season X concludes in May with the prestigious WPT World Championship at Bellagio. As one of poker’s must-attend events, this elite tournament consistently attracts the biggest and brightest names. Given the success of last year’s Super High Roller Event at the WPT World Championship, this $100,000 buy-in tournament will now become a televised WPT event.
Successful additions such as the European Royal Flush Girls™ and Ali Nejad as final table host at U.S. events will continue to entertain throughout 2012, as will WPT Live Streaming which provides dynamic coverage of the WPT final table. With coveted membership in the WPT Champions Club on the line, expect incredible action at each upcoming Main Event. The race for WPT Season X Player of the Year is wide open. Every point matters and every event is a must-play.
