WPT® Bay 101 Shooting Star to Light Up Northern California Starting Monday
Poker’s Best Players Set to Fly to San Jose for Televised WPT Main Event
Los Angeles (February 29, 2012) – This coming Monday marks the start of one of poker’s most exceptional tournaments, the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star. Year after year, this thrilling event attracts poker’s top professionals for a dynamic tournament featuring bounties and bonuses.
Players from around the world will be heading to San Jose, California for the televised $10,000 buy-in WPT Main Event running March 5 – 9, 2012. Many of the tournament’s Shooting Stars, who carry a $5,000 bounty into their table, will be traveling to San Jose in style on Bay 101’s private jet.
As part of the innovative format, Day 1A and Day 1B chip leaders receive a $10,000 bonus paid out at the end of each day. Adding further drama to this one-of-a-kind tournament is an intricate structure, which reformats the action at 36 players into 6-handed play until the WPT final table is reached.
Last season, World Poker Tour® witnessed a landmark moment when WPT co-host Mike Sexton competed in his first-ever WPT final table after nine years as acclaimed WPT Commentator. Back again this year as a Shooting Star, the Poker Hall of Famer will definitely be one to watch on the felt.
Beyond its reputation as an innovative tournament, the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star is known for its devoted and energetic fans who always turn out in droves to watch their favorite players. During WPT Season X, those who can’t make it to the final table in person can now share in the action with WPT Live Streaming. Starting at 4:30pm PT on March 9, the final table of the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star will be streamed live and fans can follow all the action at WPT.com. WPT Live Streaming with Tony Dunst and special guest commentators, features rich graphics, hole cards and expert analysis.
WPT Commentator Vince Van Patten, guest WPT Anchor Marianela Pereyra and the beautiful Royal Flush Girls will also be in attendance for the televised event. Fans and players can hang with the entire WPT team at the Royal Flush Girls Social Bar, which will be on-site throughout the tournament.
During Day 1B on Tuesday, March 6, World Poker Tour and Bay 101 will also play host to the Silicon Valley Poker Challenge.
