London (20 March, 2012) – The countdown to the start of one of poker’s most exciting events in Europe has begun. In less than two weeks, World Poker Tour® returns to the Montesino in Austria for a festival of high-stakes action running from 1 – 16 April. The centerpiece of this Austrian poker bonanza is the prestigious €3,500 WPT Vienna Main Event (10 – 15 April), which last year attracted a then-record-breaking 555 runners.
The dynamic schedule during WPT Vienna promises an abundance of poker action, with various side events from PLO to 6-Max NLH to the €10,000 High Roller tournament on 13 April. The final table of the WPT Vienna Main Event will be streamed online on 15 April at WPT.com. The diverse poker festival features a variety of popular offerings. Jump-starting the action is the lucrative WPT special event PartyPoker.com Premier League Playoffs, which runs from 1 – 3 April and awards two winners with $125,000 entry into the elite PartyPoker.com Premier League V Main Event (4 – 10 April). Coinciding with Day 1B of the WPT Vienna Main Event is the start of PartyPoker.com’s Big Game. The 48-hour televised cash game runs from 11 – 13 April and will feature many of poker’s biggest stars.
Amongst those confirmed to partake in the WPT special event PartyPoker.com Premier League V Main Event are Patrik Antonius, Vanessa Selbst, Sam Trickett, Tony G, Luke ‘FullFlush’ Schwartz, Erik Seidel, Tom Dwan, Phil Laak, Daniel Cates, Eugene Katchalov and Yevgeniy Timoshenko. In addition to serving as Tournament Director during the WPT Vienna Main Event, for the first time ever WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage will oversee the action of the PartyPoker.com Premier League.
