Day 2 Ends w/ 160 Players

Level 17: 2,000-4,000, 400 ante

Day 2 has come to a close at the World Poker Tour Borgata Winter Poker Open in Atlantic City and 160 players have made it through the day. There were a ton of bustouts on Tuesday when you consider that 567 players started the day. The 396 players that busted today would make for a decent-sized tournament field in its own right.

The chip leader at the end of play is Scott Herz with 519,300 to pace the field. He is joined at the top by Joe DiMartino (517,100), Yung Hwang (498,900), and Patrick Chan (494,900). Other notables with a lot of chips to work with include Matt Glantz (384,000), Fall 2012 Borgata Poker Open runner-up Matthew Burnitz (349,600), and Keven Stammen (345,800).

Among the notables that made an exit today were Matt Stout, Nam Le, JC Tran, Kathy Liebert, Josh Brikis, Matt Affleck, Matt Giannetti, Kevin Saul, Will Failla, Victor Ramdin, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Noah Schwartz, Shannon Shorr, Dan O’Brien, Cornel Cimpan, Amanda Musumeci, Eric Baldwin, Dwyte Pilgrim, recent Borgata Poker Open champion Ben Hamnett, Faraz Jaka, Irv Gotti, ClubWPT Qualifier Charlie Hill, and Tony Dunst.

Check back in at noon ET on Wednesday to see which players will make the money when 100 remain, and who will bust on the bubble. The field is scheduled to play down to the final 27 players tomorrow, but that might be adjusted at the discretion of the tournament staff. Either way, we will be here to bring you all of the poker action from the Borgata Hotel and Casino.

Level 16: 1,500-3,000, 300 ante

The tournament clock has been stopped and the field was informed that they will play four more hands. There are 171 players that have survived according to the tournament clock.

Stay tuned as we will be collecting chip count information from the bag and tag and catching the final hands of the night, which will be posted soon.

Alex Bolotin Doubles Thru Kathy Liebert in Dramatic Fashion

Level 16: 1,500-3,000, 300 ante

(As told to us by Alex Bolotin)

Alex Bolotin opens to 6,000 from the hijack and Kathy Liebert three-bets to 16,000 from the small blind (the player in the big blind folded out of turn to begin the hand). Bolotin four-bets to 45,000 before Liebert five-bets all in. Bolotin, with roughly 40,000 behind, calls all in with 4heart2diamond.

Liebert is ahead with AclubKdiamond and takes a commanding lead on the flop as it falls AheartAdiamond8diamond. Bolotin picks up a few outs when the 3club turn falls and gets there when the 5heart river gives him a wheel.
