A Little GPI Table Talk
Level 6: 1,500-3,000, 400 ante
The players in the tournament had a recent conversation about the Global Poker Index rankings and how many of them were ranked in the top 10 in this field.
Current GPI leader Jason Mercier had this to say to former leader and current runner-up Marvin Rettenmaier: "I took some time off, let you have your glory. Now it's time to bring it back to the USA."
Andrew Robl commenting on his tablemates Rettenmaier (2nd in GPI), Andrew Lichtenberger (9th), and David Sands (10th): "This is a scary table, we have three top 10ers from the GPI at the same table."

Steven Silverman vs. James Courtney
Level 6: 1,500-3,000, 400 ante
On a Q
6
2
flop, Steven Silverman leads out with 18,500 from middle position. James Courtney calls from the cutoff, Cary Katz folds the button, and the A
comes on the turn. Silverman bets again -- 36,500 this time -- and Courtney wastes little time calling.
The river is the K
, and Courtney calls another 65,000 from Silverman.
Silverman tables 6
6
to win with a set of sixes. Courtney open-mucks his A
Q
, two pair no good as the dealer pushes the pot to Silverman.
