Tommy Vedes Takes a Pot With a Full House

Level 20: 12,000-24,000, 3,000 ante

Shawn Cunix raises from the button to 70,000, Kido Pham calls from the small blind, and Tommy Vedes calls from the big blind. All three players check to the turn on a board of 6diamond5heart3spade5club, Pham bets 150,000, Vedes calls, and Cunix folds.

The river card is the 7spade, Pham checks, Vedes bets 164,000, and Pham calls. Tommy Vedes shows 6club6spade to win the pot with a full house, sixes full of fives, and Kido Pham mucks. Cunix breathes a sigh of relief, as he tells Vedes "I'd have hit the straight on the river. I had a four."

Level 19: 10,000-20,000, 2,000 ante

With the board showing Jdiamond8spade3heart4diamond on the turn, Craig Crivello checks the big blind, Matt Stout moves all in from under the gun, and Shawn Cunix folds from early position.

Crivello calls with 3club3diamond for a set of threes, and Stout is drawing thin with 10club10spade. He needs a ten on the river to stay alive, but the last card is the Kdiamond. Craig Crivello wins the pot to take him to about 1,000,000 in chips, and Matt Stout is eliminated in 13th place.

Cunix Clashes with Vedes

Level 19: 10,000-20,000, 2,000 ante

Both Tommy Vedes and Shawn Cunix are towards the top of the leaderboard, but neither player is afraid to tangle in a pot with the other.

First, Cunix raises to 60,000 from the button, Vedes reraises from the small blind and Cunix moves all-in.  Vedes thinks a while before folding and Cunix assures him even if he had A-K he was crushed.

Moments later, a very similar scenario develops.  Cunix raises to 60,000 from the cutoff, Kido Pham calls on the button and Vedes reraises an additional 185,000.  Cunix doesn't think for long before moving all-in for over a million chips.  Pham folds and Vedes goes in the tank.  He thinks for a couple of minutes before folding A-K face up.  Cunix then shows him his JdiamondJheart.

As the dealer is pushing the pot towards Cunix, Pham lets curiousity get the best of him.  He reaches over and grabs the first couple of cards off the top of the deck to see if the ace flops.  The tournament director warned Pham not to repeat his actions and play resumed.

Shawn Cunix - 1,900,000
Tommy Vedes - 1,050,000

Level 18: 8,000-16,000, 2,000 ante

Shawn Cunix raises to 40,000 from early position, Dutch Boyd calls from the cutoff and Mark Seif calls out of the small blind.  The trio sees a flop of QspadeTspade9spade and action checks around.  The turn is the 5diamond and Mark Seif bets out 70,000.  Cunix calls and Boyd folds.  The river comes 4spade, putting a fourth spade on board, and Seif bets out 135,000.  Cunix announces "call" and turns up AheartJspade for the jack high flush.  Seif immediately mucks his hand and Cunix takes the pot.

Boyd, Berg, and Cunix all fold, and Jones takes the pot worth 178,000 without even seeing the flop.

Jones Takes a Pot Off Cunix

Level 17: 6,000-12,000, 1,000 ante

Shawn Cunix raises to 33,000 from late position and Aaron Jones calls on the button.  The flop falls JspadeJheart2heart and Cunix checks.  Jones bets 26,000 and Cunix calls.  The turn is the 6spade and Cunix check-calls a bet of 45,000 from Jones.  The river 3heart puts a possible flush on board and both players check.  Cunix shows KspadeQspade for a busted spade draw and Jones shows pocket eights, which were good enough to rake the pot.

Aaron Jones - 465,000
Shawn Cunix - 740,000

Shawn Cunix Rivers A Straight

Level 16: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante

Action folds around to Steve Brecher on the button who raises to 30,000.  Shawn Cunix makes the call from the small blind and the two players see a flop of Aclub9diamond8club.  Cunix checks and Brecher continues with a 30,000 bet.  Cunix calls.

The turn brings the Jspade and both players check.

The river is the Qheart and Cunix leads out for 40,000.  Brecher calls.

Cunix: Jdiamond10diamond
Brecher:  KspadeQdiamond

Cunix takes down the pot with a straight and moves to 620,000.  Brecher drops to 260,000.
