Mike Sowers Doubles Through Scotty Nguyen
Level 18: 8,000-16,000, 2,000 ante
Scotty Nguyen rebuilt his stack a bit after doubling up Faraz Jaka, getting his stack back up over the 900,000-chip mark. Then he played this hand against Mike Sowers.
Mike Sowers raises under the gun, Scotty Nguyen reraises an additional 150,000 from the button, and Sowers moves all in for another 371,000 on top of that. Scotty calls with A

Scotty Nguyen Folds 10-10 to Steven Landfish for 11 Big Blinds
Level 19: 10,000-20,000, 2,000 ante
Steven Landfish moves all in from middle position for 226,000, and Scotty Nguyen asks for an exact count from the cutoff. Scotty thinks for about a minute before he picks up his cards to recheck them and folds.
In rapid succession, Eric Hershler (button), Joe Elpayaa (small blind), and Jeremy Brown (big blind) all fold. Scotty raises up his arms in frustration, claiming he only folded because he didn't want someone to wake up with a big hand behind him.
Landfish tells them he had a small pair, and Scotty tells everyone he folded pocket tens. (I can vouch for that fact, because he held his cards up high enough to be seen from my angle before he folded.) At that point, the three guys who folded are the ones who are shocked, wondering why Scotty didn't call considering he has about 2 million in chips.

Jeremy Brown Defends His Blinds! But Only the Big Blind, and Only Against the Small Blind
Level 18: 8,000-16,000, 2,000 ante
The action has slowed down so far in Level 18, with small pots and few river cards. Here's one of the bigger recent hands:
Joe Elpayaa raises from the small blind to 45,000, and Jeremy Brown calls from the big blind. The flop comes 8
5
3
, Elpayaa bets 56,000, and Brown calls. The turn card is the K
, Elpayaa checks, Brown bets 80,000, and Elpayaa folds.
Jeremy Brown takes the pot, proudly saying he will always defend his big blind no matter what two cards he has, and he says that the 8-5-3 flop was right in his wheelhouse.
Jeremy Brown - 805,000
Joe Elpayaa - 1,090,000
The next hand, Scotty Nguyen raises from middle position to take the blinds and antes. When Brown folds his small blind, Scotty asks him why he's not defending. Brown says he'll only defend his big blind, and only when the small blind raises.
