It took less than six hours for the field to shrink from 19 players down to six, but not because of the blind structure. The final six players are extremely deep -- the average is more than 100 big blinds, and even the short stack has about 40.

Jordan Smith (center) moved all in preflop with 87, up against the A9 of Alexander Kuzmin (right). The board came AJ253, and Kuzmin won the pot with a pair of aces to eliminate Jordan Smith in 17th place ($20,854).
Chad Brown does his exit interview after his elimination in 16th place ($20,854). Brown had moved all in with KQ, but ran into Bobby Keller's AQ and couldn't catch up.
Hilbert Shirey (standing, right) was all in preflop with AK but dominated by the AA of Allen Carter (center, left). The best hand held up (Shirey was drawing dead on the turn), and Carter congratulated Shirey on his 15th place finish ($22,840).
After a flop of Q104, Shannon Shorr (left) check-raised all in with AJ (gutshot straight draw), and Ryan Hughes (right) called with J9 (open-ended straight draw). The turn was the 10, the river was the 2, and Shorr won the pot with ace high to double up close to the chip lead. Hughes still had the chip lead, but was suddenly much closer to the rest of the pack.
As the players take their first break of the day, Leif Force leaves his "Funshine" Care Bear card protector to keep an eye on his chips.
After the simultaneous eliminations of Dermot Blain (11th place) and Vitor Coelho (10th) at two different tables, the final nine players combined to one table. The players, in seat order: (1) Alexander Kuzmin, (2) Pat Mahoney, (3) Stuart Breakstone, (4) BJ McBrayer, (5) Leif Force, (6) Ryan Hughes, (7) Otis Wright, (8) Shannon Shorr, (9) Allen Carter.
Stuart Breakstone (center, right) was all in preflop with K7 against the AJ of Pat Mahoney (center, left). The board came Q55510, and Mahoney won with ace high to eliminate Breakstone in ninth place ($35,750).

After a flop of A42, Pat Mahoney bet a quarter of his stack, only to see Shannon Shorr (far left) move all in, and Allen Carter (center left) move all in as well. Mahoney quickly folded, and Shorr had 55 against Carter's 22 (set of deuces). (Mahoney tells the table he folded A-K.) The set holds up, and Carter doubles up and knocks Shorr down to the bottom of the chip counts.

BJ McBrayer (seated, right) moved his short stack all in preflop with A6. Alexander Kuzmin (center, left) called with KQ, and flopped a queen to win the pot, take the chip lead, and eliminate McBrayer on the TV bubble in seventh place. McBrayer earned $67,527, while the other six players advance to the televised WPT Final Table.

Hand #42 - Alexander Kuzmin raises to 25,000 from early position and Ryan Hughes calls on the button. Otis Wright is in the small blind and makes it 65,000 to go. Both Kuzmin and Hughes call and they go three-ways to a flop of K94.
Wright checks, Kuzmin bets 90,000, and Hughes folds. Wright check-raises to 300,000 and Kuzmin announces he is all-in, having Wright slightly covered.
Wright calls and shows AA, but he is in bad shape against Kuzmin's K9 for two pair. The 5 is no help to Wright, nor is the the 10 on the river. Kuzmin rakes in the massive pot and Wright is eliminated.

Carter bets 125,000, Hughes folds, and Carter takes the pot.
Hand #18 - Ryan Hughes raises to 17,000 out of the small blind and Otis Wright defends from the big blind. Wright checks the J93 flop, Hughes bets 26,000, Wright folds, and Hughes takes the pot.
Hand #19 - Ryan Hughes raises to 20,000 from the cutoff and allen Carter calls out of the small blind. The flop comes down 974, Carter checks, and Hughes bets 20,000. Carter raises to 55,000 and Hughes calls. The turn brings the J and Carter bets out 100,000. Hughes raises to 230,000 and Carter puts in a reraise. That prompts Hughes to fold and Carter takes the pot.

Hand #12 - Ryan Hughes raises to 17,000 from the hijack, Otis Wright calls form the cutoff, and Shannon Shorr calls on the button. Alexander Kuzmin makes it 70,000 to go from the big blind. Hughes and Wright call, while Shorr folds.
The flop comes down J52 and Kuzmin bets out 60,000. Hughes calls and Wright folds. Both players check the K on the turn and the river brings the 9. Kuzmin bets 145,000 and Hughes folds, giving Kuzmin the sizeable pot.

The river is the 6, putting a straight on board, and Wright checks a third time. Hughes bets 200,000 and Wright folds his hand, giving Hughes the pot.

Hand #3 - Leif Force raises to 24,000 from middle position, Ryan Hughes calls from the hijack, and Alexander Kuzmin defends out of the big blind. The flop comes down A73 and action checks to Hughes, who bets 28,000. Both Kuzmin and Force fold and Hughes takes the pot
Hand #4 - Ryan Hufhes raises to 18,000 from middle position and Allen Carter calls on the button. Both players check the 775 flop and Hughes bets 25,000 when the 4 comes on the turn. Carter folds and Hughes takes the pot.
Hand #5 - Ryan Hughes raises to 17,000 frommiddle position and Otis Wright calls behind. Both players check the QQ9 flop and the turn brings the 4. Hughes bets 30,000, Wright folds, and Hughes takes the pot.
Hand #6 - Ryan Hughes raises to 17,000 from under the gun and Otis Wright calls behind him. Allen Carter makes it 60,000 to go from the hijack, both players fold, and Carter takes the pot.

Shannon Shorr raises to 20,000 on the button and Ryan Hughes calls out of the small blind. Vitor Coelho is in the big blind and makes it an additional 68,000 to go, leaving less than 100,000 behind.
Shorr folds and Hughes goes in the tank. He asks Coelho, "Why couldn't you have just shoved?" Eventually, Hughes announces he is all-in and Coelho calls instantly with [KcKd[.
Hughes turns over A10. The A appears in the window as the dealer puts out the A43 flop. The 7 on the turn and J on the river give the pot to Hughes and eliminate Coelho.
