Mike Eskandari Eliminated in 14th Place ($24,415)

Level 23: 10,000-20,000, 3,000 ante

Jeff Vertes raises to 46,000 from the hijack and Mike Eskandari calls on the button.  The flop comes down 8club3heart2diamond and Vertes bets 75,000. Eskandari calls.

The turn brings the 5club and Vertes bets 125,000.  Eskandari thinks a bit, counts his stack, and moves all-in for an additional 304,000.  Vertes thinks for a minute or two and calls with 6diamond6heart for a pair of sixes.  Eskandari shows Aheart9spade for ace-high.

The river is a blank and Vertes takes the pot, moving up over 3 million in chips, while Eskandari is eliminated.

Live at the Bike

Level 23: 10,000-20,000, 3,000 ante

Over on the Live at the Bike feature table, Jeff Vertes raises to 55,000 from the cutoff and Brent Hanks moves all-in for around 770,000 from the small blind.

"That's interesting," Vertes muses.  He thinks a little while longer, then asks Hanks, "What's this play?"

Hanks says nothing and Vertes eventually folds.  After the hand, David Tuthill seeks clarification from the floor person on whether or not they will see that hand on the delayed livestream.  Tuthill thinks that because the action didn't go to a flop, the hand won't make the show.

The floorman clarifies that any hand where players voluntarily put chips in the pot will be discussed on the stream, so the hand will make the show.

"Uh oh," Hanks jokes.  "The jig is up boys."

Vertes is especially interested to hear the hand will make the webcast, asking the floorman  "Okay, now when will we see what he had?"

Brent Hanks - 880,000 (44 BBs)
Jeff Vertes - 2,300,000 (115 BBs)

Correction From Yesterday: Jeff Vertes Did *Not* Fold Trips

Level 23: 10,000-20,000, 3,000 ante

We reported a hand yesterday called "Jeff Vertes Folds Trips That Would've Made Quads." (Click the link to read the updated version.)

One problem -- he didn't have trips. He had an open-ended straight draw.

Our error dramatically misrepresented how Jeff Vertes played the hand, making him look bad in the process. We have corrected the hand, and sincerely apologize to Vertes for the error.

Level 22: 8,000-16,000, 2,000 ante

The board comes Kclub10spade6heart3heart5spade, giving Vertes top pair on the flop to win the pot. Tuan Nguyen is eliminated in 24th place ($14,135) while Jeff Vertes moves up 2,150,000.

UPDATED: Jeff Vertes *Doesn't* Fold Trips That Would've Made Quads

Level 22: 8,000-16,000, 2,000 ante

After a flop of Qspade9club9diamond, Tuan Nguyen checks the big blind, Ken Aldridge bets 85,000 from under the gun, and Jeff Vertes calls from the cutoff. Nguyen tanks for several minutes before me moves all in for 146,000.

Aldridge asks if he is allowed to reraise, but the all-in bet wasn't large enough. So Aldridge calls, and Vertes calls behind.

The turn card is the 7club, and Aldridge bets 150,000. Vertes thinks for a bit before he folds J-10 face up (open-ended straight draw).

CORRECTION: We originally reported that Vertes folded J-9, which would have given him trip nines. It was clearly an error, as we have photograpic evidence that he actually had J-10. Our sincerest apologies go out to Vertes for misrepresenting his action here.

Nguyen shows QheartJspade for two pair (queens and nines), but Aldridge turns over KheartQclub for the same two pair with a higher kicker.

The river card is the 9heart, which kills Aldridge's kicker since he and Nguyen now have identical full houses (queens full of nines) -- it's a chopped pot.

Aldridge and Nguyen shake hands, both seemingly happy with the chop.

Ken Aldridge  -  1,531,000  (95 BBs)
Tuan Nguyen  -  290,000  (18 BBs)
Jeff Vertes  -  1,900,000  (118 BBs)

Jamie Shaevel Eliminated in 25th Place ($14,135)

Level 22: 8,000-16,000, 2,000 ante

Jamie Shaevel is all-in preflop for his last 200,000 or so holding 3heart3spade to Jeff Vertes' AspadeQspade.  The AheartKdiamond8heart flop pairs up Vertes, and when Shaevel fails to improve with the 5heart on the turn or the 10diamond on the river, he is eliminated.
