Gaetano Fortugno has just doubled up through chipleader Johannes Korsar to give himself a little more breathing room.
Everyone folded to Korsar on the button and he made it 37,000 to play. Fortugno three-bet all in for 89,000 in total and once Miha Travnik got out of the way Korsar made the call.
Korsar: 107
Fortugno: K9
Korsar paired his ten on the 2105 flop and stayed ahead on the 2 turn but the pot belonged to Fortugno as the river was the J, completing the Italian's flush.
Patrick Hirvonen's stack has dwindled to 175,000, which at these blinds represents just over 10 big blinds.
Australian Hugh Cohen has a similar sized stack and has just moved all in from the hijack, which got Hirvonen thinking. He eventually folded in the small blind and Vincenzo Natale followed suit but Hirvonen entered a discussion with Johannes Korsar claiming he had folded nine-four offsuit and thought it could be worth a gamble due to the stack sizes and money already in the pot.
"I think it would be close," said Hirvonen
"No. It's not close," laughed Korsar.
The following hand the action folded around to Gaetano Fortugno in the hijack seat and he made it 32,000 to play. After a fold Hirvonen slammed his small tower of chips onto the felt, an all in bet. Fortugno quickly folded.
"Was that because I folded nine-four off?" quizzed the Finn with a smile on his face. But he received no answer.
Gaetano Fortugno, seen in the above photo sporting the blue visor, has just discovered how to make people fold to your bets, make them laugh.
Fabio Scepi raised first in from the button and then called Fortugno's three-bet before the dealer fanned out the 653 flop. Fortugno bet out to the tune of 2,100 and Scepi made the call.
After burning a card the dealer placed the 3 onto the turn, and Fortugno reacted by betting again, this time 6,500 but once again Scepi decided to call.
The pair saw the 9 arrive on the river and Fortugno made sure he bet all available streets by placing 9,500 worth of chips over the betting line. Both Fortugno and Scepi entered some table talk but as I do not speak any Italian I can only assume it was light hearted as the majority of the table burst into laughter. Whatever was said it was enough to make Scepi fold his hand and Fortugno to voluntarily reveal his hand, AA
When the action folded around to Massimo Mauri on the button he made the unconventional play of open-limping. Fabio Scepi put in the extra 150 chips from the small blind and Gaetano Fortugno checked in the big blind.
Flop: K8Q - Scepi lead out with a bet of 650, and only Fortugno called.
Turn: 4 - Both players checked on the turn
River: 9 - After checking the turn Scepu put his foot firmly on the gas, making a large bet of 2,300. Fortugno grimaced and looked as if he was pondering making the call, but he eventually folded, leaving Scepi to pick up the pot
