Bodo Sbrzensy Eliminated in 11th Place ($17,269)
Level 23: 10,000-20,000, 3,000 ante
Bodo Sbrzensy will not be repeating his heroic performance from Prague as he has just been eliminated by Paul Berende.
Growing increasingly low on chips, Sbrzensy open-jammed from the button with K

3

and was instantly called by Berende and his A

K

. Berende has been on the receiving end of losses at the hands of ace-king and when the flop comes down K

8

3

it looks like that bad run will continue. However, the turn is the 8

which counterfeits Sbrzensy’s hand and when the 6

falls on the turn Sbrzensy’s tournament comes to an end.

Arpad Kovecses Eliminated by Bodo Sbrzesny
Level 20: 5,000-10,000, 1,000 ante
Kovecses has just put his tournament life on the line holding K

J
. We are not sure at which point the chips were dumped into the middle, but we know Kovecses did not find the luck he needed to survive.

Daniel Scatragli Eliminated by Bodo Sbrzesny
Level 19: 4,000-8,000, 1,000 ante

Bodo Sbrzesny has just eliminated Daniele Scatragli. We believe Scatragli opened to 25,000 off an 88,000 stack with T
9
and was put all-in by Sbrzesny holding A
8
. The Italian called, Sbrzesny hit an ace on the flop and Scatragli was out.

Sbrzesny & Rettenmaier in no Mood to Party
Level 18: 3,000-6,000, 1,000 ante

Bodo Sbrzesny and Marvin Rettenmaier have just shown the poker world that there are NO friends in PartyPoker when it comes to game time.
Fedor Holz opens up the action with a 12,000 raise from mid-position, Kimmo Kurko is next to act and he three-bets to 28,000 in the hijack, Bodo Sbrzesny then makes a cold four-bet worth 52,000 in the cutoff and Marvin Rettenmaier makes a cold five-bet from the button for 96,000. Holz and Kurko both fold, and Sbrzesny manages to find just a call.
Flop: K
5
3
You can cut the tension with a piece of cheese wire. Sbrzesny checks, Rettenmaier makes a 62,000 c-bet and Sbrzesny calls, leaving around 235,000 behind.
Turn: 6
Sbrzesny checks, and after a lull, Rettenmaier quietly murmurs, ‘All-In.” Sbrzesny greets the sound of the immortal words with the only way Bodo can – he smiles. The biggest Cheshire cat impression you will see today.
“Oh Mad Marvin.” Sighs Sbrzesny.
As Sbrzesny tanks, the clock runs into the break period. Deep into the break period. Eventually, Sbrzesny mucks his hand and Rettenmaier can’t help himself. He shows A
9
for the bluff and says hello to his little friends – 735,000 of them.
What does Sbrzesny do? He just smiles even wider.

De Vries wins a Huge Pot from Sbrzesny
Level 18: 3,000-6,000, 1,000 ante
Bodo Sbrzesny is first to act inform his seat in the cutoff and he opens the betting with his standard 2x the big blind raise – 12,000 in total. Dutchman Rien De Vries puts up some resistance with a three-bet to 34,000 in the big blind. Sbrzesny asks for confirmation of how many chips De Vries has behind – around 400,000 – before calling.
The K
J
5
flop is greeted with a 46,000 continuation bet from De Vries and a call from Sbrzesny. The pot is already bigger than some of the other players’ stacks! The T
turn sees De Vries make it 107,000 to play and again Sbrzesny calls. Wow, this sucker is huge!
The A
falls on the river and De Vries checks. Sbrzesny can’t quite bring himself to pull the trigger and he checks behind.
De Vries reveals T
T
and Sbrzesny looks extremely frustrated. He mucks, but does so in a manner that De Vries sees Sbrzesny held AxKx.
Sbrzesny is down to 250,000 chips while De Vries is up to 630,000.

De Vries Five-Bet Shoves on Sbrzesny
Level 17: 2,500-5,000, 500 ante
From the button, the best seat in the house, Bodo Sbrzesny raises to 10,000. This folds out the small blind but Rien De Vries defends his big blind with a three-bet to 27,000. Sbrzesny pauses for a few moments before four-betting to a nice, round 50,000. De Vries is not done though, he moves all-in for around 230,000 and Sbrzesny instantly folds.

O’Donnell Done and Dusted
Level 16: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante
It has not been Ryan O’Donnell’s day at all, and it has just got worse because he has been eliminated just four spots short of the money.
Earlier today he was on the wrong end of a queens-versus-aces cool and he informed us that he lost with JxJx to 6x6x when a six flopped to lose another big percentage of his stack. The rest of his chips went into the middle, 18-big blinds, with jacks and Bodo Sprzesny called with Ax7x. An ace appeared on the flop and it was more than enough to end O’Donnell’s day.

Wyraz Doubles Through O’Donnell
Level 15: 1,500-3,000, 500 ante
Everyone folds around to our chip leader, Bodo Sbrzesny who is seated on the button. He rarely needs an excuse to put in a raise and that is exactly what he does, raising to 6,000. Ryan O’Donnell is next to act and he decides to protect his small blind by three-betting to 14,000.
Poland’s Grzegorz Wyraz is in the big blind but all of the raising does not seem to have bothered him in the slightest. He is eyeing up the stacks of his potential opponents. He continues to continue his options for a full minute before settling on four-betting to 27,500. Sbrzensy quickly folds but O’Donnell leans to his left to gauge the size of the four-bettor’s stack then announces he is all in.
“I call,” says Wyraz with a surprised expression on his face.
O’Donnell: Q

Wyraz: A

A real cooler hand here in the opening level and one that looks to be going Wyraz’s way. The flop falls 9

, the turn is the K
and the river the A
. O’Donnell has to hand over 135,500 of his stack, not an ideal start for him at all.

Birlean Runs a Huge Bluff
Level 14: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante
Bodo Sbrzensy starts the betting by raising to 4,800 from the cutoff. Next to act is Paul Berende on the button and he calls. The small blinds gets out of the way but Gabriel Birlean decides to mix things up and he raises to 20,000. Sbrzensy calls but Berende quickly folds.
The flop comes down 2

and both players check. The 6
on the turn sees Birlean lead for 22,000 and Sbrzensy call in an instant. The 8
river slows Birlean down for around 45-seconds before he springs into action with an all-in bet of 99,000. Sbrzensy looks rocked by this large bet and he lets out an awkward smile before biting the tassel of his white hoodie. A short time passes and Sbrzensy folds.
Birlean cannot resist showing the table his hand, the 5

.
