Jason Mercier Eliminated by New Chipleader Doug Lee

Level 13: 1,500-3,000, 400 ante

Doug Lee keeps picking up pots and he surged past the 800,00 mark with a duel elimination. According to Lee, Jason Mercier shoved all-in for around 50,000 from the button and Lee called out of the small blind. The player in the big blind called all-in for his last 40,000 or so.

The big blind showed pocket fours, Mercier held K-8, and Lee had pocket nines. The board ran out 10-9-2-3-5 and Lee knocked out both players to take the pot.

Lee has only chipped up since then and he is now the biggest stack in the room with around 880,000 chips.

Doug Lee  -  880,000 (220 bb)
Jason Mercier  -  Eliminated

Jason Mercier Doubles Thru Luis Velador on the Money Bubble

Level 13: 1,500-3,000, 400 ante

Jason Mercier moves all-in from early position for 39,500 and it folds around to Luis Velador in the small blind.  Velador starts thinking and looks over at one of the other short stacks at the table, Andy Frankenberger.

"I know what you're thinking," Velador tells him.

"I'm thinking he probably has it and you should fold," Frankenberger jokes.  "I'm obviously just joking around," he adds.

Velador eventually calls and the two players flip over their hands without thinking.  Velador shows 7heart7spade and Mercier frustratedly flips over 6heart6diamond.  They are instructed to turn their hands back over and wait for the other hands to play out.

While Mercier is waiting for what seems like his impending elimination on the bubble, the table learns there are two separate all-ins at other tables.  After almost five minutes of waiting, the tournament staff instructs the dealers to run out the boards.

The flop falls 7diamond8diamond9diamond and the table gasps as Velador flops bottom set and Mercier flops an open-ended straight flush draw.  The Aclub on the turn is a blank, but the Jdiamond on the river makes a flush for Mercier to double him up and avoid elimination.

Jason Mercier - 86,000 (29 bbs)
Luis Velador - 250,000 (83 bbs)

Jason Mercier vs. Jason Koon

Level 13: 1,500-3,000, 400 ante

Seth Fischer raises to 7,000 from under the gun, Jason Koon calls on the button, and Jason Mercier calls out of the big blind.

The flop comes down 10heart7heart7diamond and Mercier checks.  Fischer bets 17,000, Koon calls, and Mercier calls.  The turn brings the 7club and action checks to Koon, who bets 20,000.  Mercier calls and Fischer folds.

The river is the 5spade and Mercier checks a third time.  Koon thinks a moment, then bets 35,000.  Mercier tanks for several minutes before calling, leaving himself with just 25,700 behind.

Koon silently tables JdiamondJspade for sevens full of jacks, Mercier mucks, and Koon takes the pot.

Jason Koon - 365,000 (122 bbs)
Jason Mercier - 25,700 (9 bbs)
