Hand #94: Andras Koroknai Wins the WPT LA Poker Classic! ($1,788,040)

Level 34: 75,000-150,000, 25,000 ante

Andras Koroknai moves all in from the button, and Raymond Dolan calls with Qclub4heart. Koroknai dominates him with Qheart8heart, and Dolan will need to improve to stay alive.

Dolan's friends cheer "Four! Four! Four! Four!"

The flop comes 10heart9heart4diamond, and Dolan pairs his four to take the lead. But Koroknai picks up a flush draw.

The turn card is the 7spade, and Koroknai picks up additional outs with an open-ended straight draw. He'll win the tournament on a jack, eight, six, or any heart.

The river card is -- the Kheart! Andras Koroknai wins the pot -- and the tournament -- with a heart flush. His friends begin chanting in Hungarian, and literally lift Andras up off his feet and repeatedly throw him in the air. It was like a mosh pit on the WPT stage.

Raymond Dolan finishes as the runner-up, but he is all smiles as he becomes a WPT Millionaire in his first WPT event, earning $1,002,710.

Andras Koroknai wins the WPT Commerce LA Poker Classic, earning $1,788,040, a WPT bracelet, a watch, and a huge Commerce trophy. That also includes entry into the $25,500 WPT World Championship at Bellagio in April.

Congratulations to Andras Koroknai!

Official Chip Counts

Level 34: 75,000-150,000, 25,000 ante

Here are the official chip counts from the table:

Raymond Dolan  -  1,450,000
Andras Koroknai  -  13,450,000

There will be a brief money presentation before heads-up play begins. Remember that in heads-up play, the button has the small blind and acts first before the flop.

Andras Koroknai is attempting to become the first Hungarian winner of a televised WPT event, while Raymond Dolan was bought into this, his first WPT event, by his brother -- professional player Tim Phan. (Phan reached the final table at the WPT Legends of Poker at the Bicycle Casino in 2005.)

Level 34: 75,000-150,000, 25,000 ante

Tri Huynh raises from the button to 400,000, Andras Koroknai thinks for a bit before he moves all in from the big blind, and Huynh immediately calls with JclubJspade. Koroknai shows AspadeKheart, and it's a race situation.

The board comes Kclub7spade2diamond9club10spade, and Koroknai pairs his king on the flop to win the pot. Tri Huynh is eliminated in third place, earning $665,140.

The loudest fans in the arena belonged to Raymond Dolan, who as the short stack, just snuck into second place, where he is guaranteed at least $1 million.
