DAY 3 RECAP
Level 25: 80,000-160,000, 15,000 ante
Day 3 of the Mandalay Bay Poker Championship was all about getting down to the final 18 players. 56 players started the day on only the top 50 were going to earn money. The 51st place player was Danny Smith, who moved ALL-IN with pocket Jacks and lost to Alex Outhred's A-8 when an Ace hit the board. Alex Outhred is perhaps the biggest story of the day as he impressively increased his chip stack throughout the day. Outhred never put his chips in jeopardy, but rather won numerous medium sized pots. Outhred teaches poker to those who want to learn how to become a solid tournament player. Outhred is trying to parlay a $1000 satellite into a $1 million pay day. Outhred finished the day 2nd in chips with 902,000. Joseph Tehan, WPT touring pro, ended the day as the chip leader with slighty over 1 million. He sky-rocketed to the chip lead when knocked out Patrik Antonius. Tehan had the nut-flush while Antonius had the 2nd nut-flush. Tehan's chip stack just kept climbing as the day progressed. There are still a few dangerous players left in the tournament that will be sure to make their moves tomorrow. Carlos Mortensen, Brad "Yukon" Booth, Tim Phan, "Miami" John Cernuto, and Thomas Koral all have large enough stack to do some damage. Both of our female players (Kristy Gazes and Esther Rossi) got eliminated early in the day. The World Poker Tour will have to wait for the next event to see if a female player can capture a WPT tour event. Who will get on the TV show and be known all over the world? Only one way to find out. Make sure to come back here tomorrow at 12 noon (PST) as the Day 4 is sure to see some more poker action as the remaining 18 players will play down to the FINAL 6.
