Hand #92: A Tough Ruling For Johnny Grooms

Level 25: 80,000-160,000, 20,000 ante

Hand #92 - Captain Tom Franklin has the button in seat 1, he raises to 65,000, and Edler announces "Raise" from the small blind, putting 65,000 into the pot. Before Edler puts in a raise, Davidson says "Reraise" from the big blind. Oops. Amidst much confusion as to what to do next, Tournament Director Johnny Grooms comes over to make sense of the situation. Here's the ruling: Because there was a "gross misunderstanding" about the amount of the call or the raise, the verbal declaration is not binding. After everything is more or less settled, Bill Edler decides to move all in, clarifying the situation a bit. Davidson folds his big blind, and Franklin folds. Bill Edler takes the pot. Johnny Grooms made his decision based on the fact that any ruling he makes in the situation would harm any one of the three players, and he felt that this ruling was the least damaging. Grooms is actually posting about this situation in a thread at 2+2, asking for input from others in the poker community.

ZZZZzzzz....

Level 25: 80,000-160,000, 20,000 ante

Gavin Smith has just entered the tournament area to sweat his friend Bill Edler. A few minutes after stepping under the ropes, he fell asleep in his chair while watching the action with a drink in hand. (The photo will be posted later tonight). Peter "Nordberg" Feldman was also present to sweat Edler, who they call "the stunning one." The hour has just passed 1 a.m. and both have left to pursue other endeavors.
