Day 3 Recap
Level 8: 200,000-400,000, 50,000 ante
When the day began, we had twenty-seven players; within three hours, we were down to nine. It was a ballistic display of poker carnage the likes of which I hadn’t seen until now. When we consolidated to one table though, the real war began. Our final three eliminations took almost five hours before Brent Bibby finally succumbed to the blinds. That left David “The Dragon” Pham, he of multiple WPT final tables and World Series bracelets, as our chip leader with T1,655,000. For Pham, a victory here would represent escalation to a new level of excellence. With over $5,000,000 in tournament winnings, he’s never won that big one. The same can be said for JC Tran. You all know his story by now; he makes every final table he pleases. JC is as close as it gets to a sure thing in poker these days, and you know there’ll be fire in his eyes tomorrow. Joining David and JC at the final table are young pro JC Alvarado, two-time bracelet winner Mark Seif, young gun Danny Wong and old pro John Hom. Wednesday, we’ll get down to business at 5PM PST as our remaining six players look to finish off the opposition in this, the biggest little tournament in the world. The winner will take home cash in excess of $600,000, so be sure to check back here for all of the action as we bring you hand-for-hand coverage. Will JC get his title? Will the Dragon? We’ll find out together tomorrow. See you then.

Brent Bibby Bubbled
Level 8: 200,000-400,000, 50,000 ante
I’m telling you… I have not had this much fun thinking of headlines in quite some time. Of course, I’m not happy for anyone who goes out on the money bubble or the tv bubble; I’ve seen how upsetting it can be to the players. Nevertheless, as a writer who makes her living playing with words, Brent Bibby’s bubble bust is the best. I’ve been wondering if Brent Bibby has a baby, and if Baby Bibby burps or belches after his baby bottle. Does Brent Bibby like babyback ribs? Can Brent Bibby believe this big business is booming? Seriously, this is only the tip of the iceberg. I’ve been playing word games with Bibby’s name for the last few hours. Desperate for material? Yes. Here’s to hoping Bibby reads this and has a sense of humor! Bye-bye Bibby.

David asks Seif "Do you want to see it?" and Seif responds with a resounding "Yeah." The Dragon shows J

Have Mercy
Level 8: 200,000-400,000, 50,000 ante
Up until this afternoon, this tournament was proceeding at an incredible rate of speed. Day 1 took us from 475 starting players to about 90 players, and Day 2 brought us down to 27 players in about five hours. Today began with the same promise, as players busted left and right in the first two hours. And then, things slowed. Seriously. And that’s an understatement. Though most of us in the media section are poker fans and love a good game, we got our hopes up that there would be an early end to the action today, allowing us worker bees to have a bit of relaxation before the final table tomorrow. And the tournament director has decided that we will not be taking a dinner break tonight since we’re so close to finishing. My stomach was quoted as saying, “Grrr.”
