Day 4 Recap
Level 5: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante
I don’t even remember the last time we finished a day before 7PM. That’s all over now, though, as a fast set of eliminations ended the day early. The TV table is set, and it should be a good one. Heading the leader board in Philly-born Joe Simmons. A musician by trade, Simmons found a talent for poker that’s earned the respect of the players and staff here in Atlantic City. Solid as a rock, Simmons went on a monster run at the end of the day, knocking out David Redlin, John Racener and Joe Cappello for the final three eliminations of the day. He also hit a straight flush in the home stretch. Right behind Simmons is 2006 Caribbean Poker Adventure champion John Gale. Gale took out late chip leader David Matthew in a dramatic hand that vaulted him into the big stack, coming back from as low as T2075 on day two. Gale is joined by season 1 star John Hennigan and newcomers Chuck Kelley, Michael Sukonik and short stack Jon James. The proceedings will begin Tuesday at 5PM EST. We’ve built the set in the beautiful Borgata ballroom, with Mike Sexton, VVP, Sabina and rest of the gang will be here in earnest as we crown a new champion. Be here to get all the juicy details as we get into the nitty-gritty of every hand played. It’s going to be a good one, but really, I always say that. It always is.

Simmons on a Tear
Level 5: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante
Joe Simmons is on one hell of a run. He took out Racener and Dedlin, and then just now he flopped a straight flush and got paid. Sick stuff. Gale may not have won this thing just yet.

Down to Seven
Level 5: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante
Well, Redlin and Racener are gone. Redlin was furious because during the deal, a card was flipped up and the replacement card dealt to Joe Simmons gave him a pocket pair that turned into a set. Racener, meanwhile, was only angry with himself. I overheard him on the phone with his mon (he says hi), saying "I donked out. I should have automatically made final six in my mind. All I had to do was fold ace-queen." I'm a big fan of the guys who take the responsibility on themselves. Kudos to John.
