Shuffle Up & Deal!
Level 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante
Internet problems have delayed our coverage a bit here at Bay 101, but we have been following the action and will be posting the big news that has already happened.
It's the playdown day here at WPT Bay 101, which TD Matt Savage describes as "The Most Exciting Day in Poker." With six-handed tables, a gradual blind structure, and two-hour levels, there will be plenty of action -- and not the boring all-in preflop variety.
The cards are in the air at 12:08 pm.
There are about 61 minutes left in Level 17, with blinds at 2,000-4,000 and a 500 ante. All levels after this one will be two hours long today.
Now that we have internet access, we will do our best to stay on top of the action while providing timely chip counts.

Four Bounties Left in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star
Level 16: 1,500-3,000, 500 ante
This tournament began with 50 "Shooting Stars" -- players with bounties on their head. Anyone who busts them receives $5,000 and a custom t-shirt that the hunted player has to autograph. By the end of Day 2, there were only four bounties left: Kathy Liebert, Paul Wasicka, Hoyt Corkins, and Joe Sebok.
The biggest bounty hunter of the day was John Monnette who busted Freddy Deeb and Brandon Cantu on the same hand when his A-Q paired up on the flop to beat their pocket tens and pocket fours, respectively. Deeb won the most recent event, so there won't be a two-in-a-row WPT champion. Cantu was the defending champion here at Bay 101, so there won't be a repeat WPT champion either.
Hoyt Corkins barely survived the day. Hoyt was already short with 37 players left (the end-of-day bubble) when Matthew Lessinger doubled through him with K-7 suited over Hoyt's J-2 suited. That dropped Hoyt down below 10,000 -- less than three big blinds.
Other short stacks were waiting for Hoyt to bust, but he quadrupled in his next hand when Paul Wasicka reraised big to chase out some other players, which gave Hoyt some protection and Wasicka an uncontested side pot. Hoyt flopped a pair and turned trips to win that hand and quadruple up to about 34,000. A few minutes later, he doubled up again when his A-7 held up against Luis Velador's A-5 (the board came low, and Hoyt's kicker played). That took Hoyt up near 80,000, and when play ended a few minutes later, he was all the way up to 124,500.
There are 36 players remaining. Here's a look at the top five chip counts, along with the remaining Shooting Stars:
1. Michael Kamran - 570,500
2. Tony Behari - 553,000
3. Chris Moore - 539,500
4. Dan O'Brien - 478,000
5. John Monnette - 459,000
Remaining Shooting Stars:
7. Kathy Liebert - 385,000
11. Paul Wasicka - 297,000
25. Hoyt Corkins - 124,500
29. Joe Sebok - 116,500
Day 3 begins tomorrow (Thursday) at 12:00 noon PT. Return to WorldPokerTour.com for live coverage of all the action as they play down at six-handed tables. A great blind structure (two-hour levels tomorrow) combined with short-handed tables gives the players plenty of opportunity to show their skills, and you won't want to miss it.
