Day 1b RECAP
Level 28: 400,000-800,000, 100,000 ante
Day 2 of the 2006 WPT Championship at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino gathers the remaining 322 players for the second flight of Round 1. Amongst the players were heavy hitters Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Mike Mizrachi, Tuan Le and many more. Most notably today was the overwhelming presence of The Ladies taking control. In the game we had; Jennifer Harmon, Evelyn Ng, Liz Lieu, Jennifer Tilly, Maureen Feduniak , Vanessa Rousso, Mimi Tran, Lily “Mrs. Grinder? Elviro, and Kathy Liebert. Not only have they proved they can play with the boys, some of our Ladies are dominating their tables. Lily Elviro is playing extremely strong, taking down monster pots, proving that the south Florida native is a genuine poker pro. Evelyn Ng shows that she is a force to be reckoned with when she nearly doubled up while knocking out Andy Black with a set of 10’s. Our player of the day has to be the beautiful and talented Vanessa Rousso. Being a devoted Law student, she went to class this afternoon and was over three hours late for the tournament. She arrived in business attire but was as bubbly as a school girl. Her table might have taken her lightly but not for long. Her first two hands showed that despite her diminishing chip stack due to a late arrival, Rousso was here to win and was prepared to take out whoever stepped in her way. Her first hand was versus Liz Lieu where she doubled up with quad Q's. The very next hand she was dealt Cowboys (pocket Kings) and took out a player who went All-In with 25k. We hope to see more of Rousso's winning streak carry into the week. Texas Dolly Doyle Brunson was off to a rough start but kicked it into second gear and made a comeback from 5k in chips to currently 75k. Some of the big upsets today were the simultaneously busts out of both Phil “the Unabomber? Laak and his “Poker Queen? Jennifer Tilly. Others eliminated late today were Liz Lieu, Scotty Nguyen, Andrew Black, and Maureen Feduniak Paying out 100 places with the top prize rewarding over 3.7 million in cash; we are sure to have a week full of live cards and monster pots. Flight 1 and 2 will be merged and tables will be redrawn tonight for tomorrow's Day 3 action. 12 noon is the start time, so come back for all your exclusive live updates, video and photos of the WPT World Championship.
