Thirteen left
Level 12: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante
We’re down to thirteen players as I write this on our 4:30 break. It’s almost a miracle we’ve gone that low thanks to Foxwoods’ policy on playing hand-for-hand at this point in play. When three more go down, we’ll get everyone at one table and from there it should be smooth sailing. I’ve heard predictions we may go to midnight, but I’m putting the line at somewhere around 10:15PM. In the mean time, I’ll be keeping a close watch on three players: Kathy Liebert, Mimi Tran and E.G. Harvin. Kathy’s having a great time. She’s loose, chatty and confident. She’s talking with her table mates and getting into their heads a little: After all, she’s probably the best player left in the tournament and everyone knows it. Mimi’s been the opposite. Quiet, still, rock-like. She hasn’t played many hands, with her stack sitting at the T1.4 million mark since the first hour of today’s play. I hope both ladies make the final table: It would make for good TV and be great for the WPT. Still, I’m worried right now that Tran is keeping things a little too close to the vest. She’ll need to move her chips a little if she’s going to be in good shape heading to the final table. Of course, Mimi’s movement has been halted by E.G. He’s our chip leader now, having played a rock-solid tournament. Utilizing his tight reputation, I’ve watched him start bullying raisers with massive re-raises, forcing them to fold in the face of elimination. Someone’s going to call eventually: I’ll be curious to see what he’s holding.
