Kathy and Questionable Calls

Level 12: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante

- There’s a nice story that’s been following Kathy Liebert around the event here, literally. Kathy won a $2,000 buy-in tourney here last week. In good spirits, she was wondering through the poker room when a fan, 23-year old Marc Waterfall of Boston, called out and asked her to join his $1/$2 No Limit table. Kathy complied and ended up having a fantastic time. Celebrating her win, she took the table out for dinner, then they all went back to the table and played some more. Finally, at the end of the night, she told Waterfall ‘If you come back and watch me at the final table, I’ll give you 1%.? Marc is here, and with eleven left, it’s looking like the Fenway Park beer-hawker may get a nice little payday. - Kathy’s table saw a hand that left most of the room shaking their heads. Michael Omelchuk limped in, Loi Phan called and Dan Sevigny raised to T90,000. Kathy and the big blind both folded and Omelchuk moved all-in for more than Sevigny’s T400K and change. Sevigny called, Omelchuk turned over Kc-Jc, convinced he was losing only to have Sevigny turn over Kh-Jd. Omelchuk’s play was a bold one, but the move might have been warranted, given a read of weakness, but Sevigny’s call just made no sense. Still, the clubs didn’t come and he survived. - Just as I was finishing this up, we went down to ten. Dave Singer went out eleventh, finally ending our hand-for-hand hell. I really hope Foxwoods will reconsider this policy in their event coverage, but for the moment, thank god its over.
