Wattel Learns his Lesson; Doubles Up
Level 8: 800,000-1,600,000, 300,000 ante
As posted in a previous blog, Mike Wattel was re-raised after he limped in the small blind by Scott Fischman. This time he wouldn't be bullied around...
Action folds around to Mike Wattel in the small blind and he moves all-in for T781,000. Fischman wrestles with the decision, but makes the call showing 2
2
. Wattel says "I only looked at one" and flips over Q
5
(any guesses on which one he looked at?)
But against pocket deuces he is in the best spot he could be in. The board comes K-K-5-10-6, and Wattel catches a 5 to double up to T1.6 million.

Slowwww
Level 8: 800,000-1,600,000, 300,000 ante
- Things have really slowed down here, with the final eight taking their sweet time. I blame the steep payout structure and the shallow rises in payouts until the final few spots. - Thomas Wahlroos is listening to Eye of the Tiger over and over again on his IPod. - I have a bet going with one of the tournament directors where I took the under on 11:32 PM. I made it at 7:32 with nine players left, and felt confident, but I’m getting a little nervous now. - Consensus is that Scott Fischman is playing the best poker of anyone still in the tournament, but the deck has not been kind.
