Welcome to Canada

Level 40: 1,000,000-2,000,000, 300,000 ante

- Last night, Liz Lieu called me desperate to find ESPN on her television. I had to explain we don't have it here - She also got flustered when she realized she couldn't buy cans of soda with her US dollar bills. - Gavin Smith was seen belting out Sweet caroline in the casino bar last night. He was eventually joined by Joe Bartholdi. - It's fun to watch the American visitors marvel at how nice everyone is here. - Eli Elezra just arrived late and is sitting next to the combustible James Van Alstyne

Here W Go, Eh!

Level 40: 1,000,000-2,000,000, 300,000 ante

OK, to start, let me say I've never uttered the word 'eh' except in the context of talking about the fact I don't say it. That out of the way, I'm a proud Canadian, so its with great pleasure that I announce the beginning of the North Arican Poker Championships. This is the first time the WPT has strayed north of the border, but we didn't go too far. The Fallsview Casino overlooks one of the seven wonders of the world, one which happens to divide Canada and the United States. Canadians Daniel Negreanu, Gavin Smith, Isabelle Mercier and Brad Booth are all here to defend their old turf against the American invaders. We'll be paying extra attention to their efforts throughout the week. Day 1A has just gotten under way. Stay tuned as we bring you up to date coverage throughout. Enjoy. Gary
