Jose Tavares Shows The Nuts

Jose Tavares raises and Nicholas Gonzalez calls from the big blind.  The flop comes QJ7 and both players check.  The turn is the A and Gonzalez leads out for 150,000.  Tavares takes his time before raising the pot to 375,000.  Gonzalez mucks his hand and after some gentle persuasion from the table and the rail, Taveres shows K-10 for the nuts.

Iceman Doubles Through Scott Clements

Scott Clements raises from middle position and Iceman moves all in from the cutoff. Clements calls and has him covered.

Iceman leads the hand the entire way, making a full house on the river and doubling up to 290,000. Clements is left with 725,000 after the hand.

David Sutcliffe pushes all in before the flop from early position.  He is called by an opponent in middle position who turns over AK.  Sutcluff shows A7.

The board comes J93104 and Sutcliffe is eliminated from the tournament.

Ottavio Tassone Doubles Through "The Iceman"

Ottavio Tassone raises from the cutoff and Teddy "Iceman" Monroe reraises 100,000 more from the small blind. Tassone moves all in for 149,000 more and after a minute or so in the tank, Iceman calls.

Tassone flops a pair, making trip nines on the river to win the pot and stay alive. After the hand, Tassone has 610,000 in chips while Iceman drops down to 220,000.

John Stoltzmann Eliminated

Level 20: 10,000-20,000, 3,000 ante

After being crippled in a previous pot when his A-3 fell to pocket jacks, John Stolzmann is eliminated by Paul Darden.

Stolzmann won the WPT Jack Binion World Poker Open for almost $1.5 million in 2005.  Scott Clements, Freddy Deeb, and Paul Darden are the three remaining WPT winners.

Haralabos Voulgaris Eliminated by Freddy Deeb

Level 19: 8,000-16,000, 2,000 ante

After a flop of 10-6-5, Haralabos Voulgaris is all in with 10-6 (top two pair) against Freddy Deeb's 4-3 for an open-ended straight draw. The turn card was a 7, completing Deeb's straight, and Voulgaris failed to fill up on the river. 

Haralabos Voulgaris is eliminated. There were no signs of confrontation between him and the man he once described as falling under his 50/50 rules.

Paul Darden Doubles Up

Paul Darden moves all in over the top of a Jack Haley raise.  Haley calls and shows A8.  Darden turns over QQ.

Rumor Alert: Abraham Lincoln Did Not Play in the WPT Celebrity Invitational

For whatever reason, the official chip counts released by the casino included some names of famous people who weren't here. Whether they were written by players on their bags as jokes, or filled in by dealers who didn't know a celebrity's name, we're here to correct the misinformation. 

No, Bill Murray didn't play. The WPT Live Updates team would have posted numerous photos of him, many with us in the picture. You would have received near-constant updates on Bill Murray if he were here. 

Also not playing: Matt Damon, Eric Bana, Edward Norton, and the 16th president of these United States, Abraham Lincoln. All were listed in the official chip counts last night, but they've since been removed.
