Chad Brown & Kathy Liebert Join the Field
Level 2: 100-200, ante
Chad Brown and Kathy Liebert were among the late arrivals today, and the field size has increased to 207 players.
Chad Brown earned his entry into this event by winning the Gulf Coast Poker Championship main event here at the Beau Rivage last September. While a victory in this event would mark Brown's first WPT title, it would represent back-to-back main event wins here at the Beau Rivage.

Other Big Prelim Performances: Nick & Michael Binger, Jason Mercier, Chris Bell
Level 2: 100-200, ante
Earlier, we mentioned that Dwyte Pilgrim had an incredible run here at the Beau Rivage Southern Poker Championship, with two victories and a second-place finish. But there were a few other top pros who made strong showings in the preliminary events.
Last night, Chris Bell won a $3,000 no-limit hold'em event, and last week, Jason Mercier won a $1,000 no-limit hold'em event. Mercier just claimed the Bluff Magazine 2009 Player of the Year award, and continues his too-long-to-merely-call-it-a-hot-streak hot streak.
A week ago, Nick Binger won a $1,000 no-limit hold'em event, and two days later, his brother Michael Binger won a $500 pot-limit Omaha event. The brothers pointed out that they have reached the final two tables together about half a dozen times, but they've never reached the same final table. That streak continued here at the Beau Rivage, but at least they each picked up a victory.

Curt Kohlberg Eliminated by Gavin Smith, Stalked by Matt Stout
Level 2: 100-200, ante
Curt Kohlberg was just eliminated when Gavin Smith made a flush against Kohlberg's pocket queens. Kohlberg goes home, and Gavin moves up the leaderboard with 43,000 in chips.
Gavin Smith - 43,000
Curt Kohlberg - Eliminated
Curt Kohlberg was here less than a level, but he still found himself seated at the same table as Matt "Allinat420" Stout -- for the third straight WPT tournament.
At WPT Foxwoods in November, Kohlberg and Stout started the tournament at the same table, and made it all the way to the final table together.
The next month, at WPT Bellagio, they shared another table, and they both went pretty deep. (Stout finished 20th, and Kohlberg finished 9th.)
On the way to Biloxi, they found themselves on the same plane, and sure enough, they started this tournament at the same table as well. Unfortunately for Kohlberg, this time it didn't bring much luck.
