Calvin Anderson vs. Mukul Pahuja

Level 7: 250-500, 75 ante

With the board reading 9club7club5spade7spade and about 16,000 in the pot, we arrive at the table just as Mukul Pahuja calls 8,200 from out of position against Calvin Anderson to see the 9spade river. Pahuja checks to Anderson who bets effectively 29,200-ish. Pahuja goes into the tank for about two minutes before he gives it up.

Anderson shows him 8heart6heart for a straight as he collects the pot.

The players return from dinner to begin Level 7, with increased blinds of 250-500 and a 75 ante.

Registration has now closed, and the tournament clock shows an unofficial Day 1C field of 774 entries. Combined with the 1,021 entries on the first two days, that creates an unofficial total field size of 1,795 entries.

This is the largest field in World Poker Tour history.

The casino should release the official prizepool information later this evening, but they have easily surpassed the $5 million guarantee.

Action will continue tonight until the end of Level 10 (about 12:15 am).

The WPT HU Shootout on partypoker.com (NJ)

Level 6: 200-400, 50 ante

image001
Now that the NCAA Basketball tournament has come to an end, another bracket-style event is about to begin — the WPT HU Shootout.

The WPT HU Shootout is an online poker bracket, and if you can beat all of your opponents heads-up, you’ll win a $15,400 seat into the WPT World Championship at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. That event features a guaranteed prizepool worth at least $5 million, with at least $1 million going to the winner.

The 64-player WPT HU Shootout begins at 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 13, and the only way to gain entry is to win one of the satellites (ranging from free to $20) that take place throughout the afternoons and evenings until this Saturday night.

The WPT HU Shootout and satellites are only available to players in the state of New Jersey (both residents and visitors) on partypoker.com. For more details, click here.

Tommy Vedes Eliminated

Level 6: 200-400, 50 ante

The player in the hijack raises to 900 and gets calls from four players, including Ronnie Bardah on the button and Champions Club member Tommy Vedes from the small blind.

The flop falls 9club8spade2heart and Vedes checks to the player in the big blind who bets 2,800. Only Vedes tags along to see the 4club turn, which he checks. The player in the big blind bets 10,500, Vedes calls after a few moments, and the 7heart river completes the board. Vedes check-calls all in for about 5,000, but mucks when his opponent tables 9spade8diamond for top two pair.

Jason Duval and Nacho Barbero Falling

Level 6: 200-400, 50 ante

There is 7,300 in the pot and the board reads 10club6diamond5spade4club8heart when Jason Duval bets 4,200 from the cutoff and Nacho Barbero tanks on the button. He eventually calls and UTG+1 also tank calls. The three players then table their hands.

UTG+1: 5club5diamond
Barbero: Jspade10heart
Duval: AspadeQdiamond

UTG+1 wins the hand with a set and he is up to double a starting stack. Barbero is down to 16,700 and Duval is in trouble with just 6,400 remaining.

Level 6 Begins (1,734 Entries)

Level 6: 200-400, 50 ante

Seminole Hard Rock Cards
Level 5 comes to an end, and Level 6 begins with increased blinds of 200-400 and a 50 ante. Play continues without a break.

The tournament clock shows 713 entries so far here on Day 1C, and registration remains open until the end of the dinner break (about 8:00 pm). Combined with the 1,021 entries on the first two days, the total field size is 1,734 and growing.

The field needed to reach 1,551 in order to reach the guaranteed prizepool of $5 million, and they passed that number during Level 2.

This tournament features unlimited re-entries, so players who bust can re-enter as many times as they'd like during the registration period, which ends at 8:00 pm. Also, players may enter multiple Day 1s, even if they survive to Day 2. If a player survives multiple Day 1s, only their largest chip stack will carry forward.

There will be a 90-minute dinner break after Level 6 (about 6:30 pm), and action will continue tonight until the end of Level 10 (about 12:15 am).
