Matt Giannetti Eliminated by John Monnette (Half an Hour Ago)

Level 14: 1,000-2,000, 300 ante

This is the hand where John Monnette took the chip lead, before he busted Freddy Deeb and Brandon Cantu on the same hand. It's about half an hour old at this point.

After a flop of Aheart8spade2heart, Matt Giannetti moved all in with Aspade10heart (pair of aces), only to run into John Monnette's AclubKheart (pair of aces, higher kicker). The turn and river were blanks, and Monnette won the pot with his king kicker.

Level 14: 1,000-2,000, 300 ante

Daniel Negreanu moves all in under the gun for 6,400, Faraz Jaka raises to 15,000, Steve "Chainsaw" Dempsey calls, Jeremy Meier calls from the small blind, and Dan Martin moves all in from the big blind. Jaka and Dempsey both fold, but Meier calls, covering them both. Their hands:

Jeremy Meier:  JclubJheart
Dan Martin:  10diamond10spade
Daniel Negreanu:  AheartKdiamond

The board comes Jspade5spade3heart4heart8spade, and Meier flops a set of jacks to win the pot, busting both Negreanu and Martin.

Shooting Star Daniel Negreanu is eliminated, and Jeremy Meier collects the $5,000 bounty and one of the most coveted autographed t-shirts from this event.

Brandon Cantu:  4heart4spade
Freddy Deeb:  10club10diamond

Monnette is pleased to see that his cards are live against the two pairs. The board comes AspadeKdiamond2diamondJclub6diamond, and Monnette pairs his ace on the flop to win the pot and bust two players -- Shooting Stars, no less -- on the same hand.

Monnette collects $10,000, two autographed t-shirts, and increases his chip lead over the rest of the field.

Daniel Negreanu Doubles Up

Level 14: 1,000-2,000, 300 ante

Daniel Negreanu raises to 4,800 from early position and is called by a player in the big blind.  The flop comes 10heart6club3club.  Action is checked to Negreanu who bets 7,200.  The big blind calls.

The turn is the Jclub and the big blind checks again.  Negreanu bets 12,700 and is called.

The river brings the 10spade and for the third time the big blind checks.  Negreanu takes a mintue before moving all in for 45,500.  The big blind calls and Negreanu turns over JheartJdiamond for jacks full.  His opponent shows the table 9club5club for a worthless flush.  Negreanu takes down the pot and doubles up.

Daniel Negreanu - 141,000

Marco Johnson Eliminates A Player

Level 14: 1,000-2,000, 300 ante

A player under the gun raises to 5,500 and "Crazy" Marco Johnson makes the call from the big blind.  The flop comes Jdiamond9spade8heart and Johnson checks to his opponent who bets 10,000.  Johnson then moves him all in for his remaining 25,000.

The player under the gun calls and turns over AspadeJspade for top pair, top kicker.  Johnson has 7club5club for the double belly buster straight draw.

The turn is the Aheart giving Johnson's opponent two pair, but the 6club on the river makes a straight for "CrazyMarco".  He eliminates his opponent and chips up to 112,000.

Dan O'Brien Picks Up Chips Courtesy of a Frank Khadivi Bluff

Level 14: 1,000-2,000, 300 ante

The turn is the 10spade and O'Brien checks again.  Khadivi continues to fire at the pot, this time for 40,000.  Again, O'Brien smooth calls.

The river brings the Kclub.  O'Brien checks for the third time in a row.  Khadivi gives up and checks it down, showing QspadeJclub.  O'Brien is visably dissapointed that Khadivi did not fire a third shell and turns over AheartKheart for a full house.
