What Would You Do For A Buck?
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
With each work day twelve hours or more out here, sometimes the coverage staffs of assorted poker publications get a little restless. That's when bad things start to happen. See, these people are similar at heart to poker players; they like to gamble, they love doing outlandish &%@# and revel in the culture that all creates. Today though, it went a little too far. Jeremy Firth is a good guy. I've known Jeremy for about half a year and have shared some good times with the man, who has done so excellent video work on assorted web sites in that time. Jeremy has a beautiful wife and newborn child, loves the game as we all do and is generally liked by those he works with, but today, he did something that might keep others at distance for a while. Jeremy went into the men's room here with a camera crew in tow and LICKED A TOILET SEAT!!!! We're not just talking a little lick here; we're talking a full on, lustful, tongue-firmly-planted-against-the-seat, as-much-coverage-as-humanly-possible, I-love-you-like-no-one-else, I-want-to-do-incredibly-dirty-things-to-you, blatant tonguing. We're talking Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber french kissing here. After he was done, a janitor was asked how often the seat was cleaned. He replied "three times a day...I'm about to do it now." I swear, this man hasn't laughed as hard in the last decade as he did when informed of the act in question. Now; in the Bahamas, I was given $400 for holding a handful of french fries for three hours; reporter Courtney Harrington was given $200 for eating a spoonful of weird salad; Jeff Madsen once paid Rick Fuller $250 to drink a sample bottle of Scope, so Jeremy must have made a mint, right? Right? He got $100. ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS???!?!? Now, I can appreciate going the extra yard to entertain, but what I can't back is Jeremy allowing himself to be angled into the worst deal in prop bet history. That was a thousand-dollar lick, and the art of the deal is as crucial as the deal itself. Poor, poor form. I weep for his child. We work with some sick, sick people here folks. Just another day on the job.

John Juanda Doubles Up
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
On a board of A
K
4
7
a middle position player bets T6,600 into John Juanda. Juanda thinks before pushing in his last T15,600. His opponent makes the call and shows A

. Juanda shows the best hand with A
Q
as we wait for the camera crew to come to film the Juanda when the river card is dealt.
When the crew is set the dealer turns over the 6
to give Juanda the pot and double him up.
With players anxious to collect an extra $5,000 for eliminating a "shooting star" this is not the first example of someone calling the all-in of a short stack with a less then stellar hand.

Amir's Disagreement
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
This didn’t happen at the table, though. It was outside near the end of the dinner break. Amir Vahedi stepped past the front doors and lit up his signature cigar. He was immediately approached by several fans asking for photos and autographs. At the same time, without having a chance to move, a Bay 101 security person came out and asked Amir to move away from the doors with his cigar. Amir moved a few feet to the side in the hopes of pacifying the complaint, but the man with the badge said, “Don’t be a smart ass.? That set off Amir, who got quite angry and asked for a supervisor. In the meantime, Amir went back toward the door momentarily – puffing that cigar – to pose for a picture requested by a fan. Finally, the supervisor came out and calmed everyone, and it was business as usual.
