Season VII WPT Player of the Year Race: WIDE Open
Level 7: 500-1,000, 100 ante
We haven't given any updates on the WPT Player of the Year race yet, and there is good reason for it -- there are dozens of players who still have a shot at catching John Phan for the title, including reigning Player of the Year Jonathan Little.
If you're curious about the current standings, you can check them out by clicking here.
As you look at that list, keep the scoring system in mind, and yes, you get POY points for finishing on the televised final table bubble.
1st place: 1,000 points
2nd place: 700 points
3rd place: 600 points
4th place: 500 points
5th place: 400 points
6th place: 300 points
7th place: 200 points
John Phan leads with 1,400 points, closely followed by Kathy Liebert (1,300) and Amnon Filippi (1,100). Every other WPT winner this season has 1,000 points, and will tie Phan with a 4th place finish. Conversely, anyone with a 4th place finish (400 points) will tie Phan with a victory in this event.
There are too many players in the running to list them here, but in the next day or two the POY race should really start to take shape into something exciting.
