Season XI WPT Champions Club: Paul Klann
Level 8: 800-1,600, 200 ante
Paul Klann joined the WPT Champions Club when he won the WPT L.A. Poker Classic earlier this season, earning $1,004,090. It was the biggest score of his career, and he followed it up with an 11th-place finish at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star to shoot up the WPT Player of the Year standings.
Klann has 1,850 points in the WPT Player of the Year race, which makes him the closest contender to Matt Salsberg. (Paul Volpe has more points than Klann, but Volpe isn't playing this event so he has no chance of catching Salsberg.)
Klann can catch Salsberg in the points race by finishing sixth place or higher, so if he makes the televised WPT Final Table (and Salsberg doesn't cash), he will win the WPT Player of the Year award.
