A Good Sweat

Level 28: 200,000-400,000, 25,000 ante

Tom Dwan raises to 43,000 and is called by Amir Vahedi and Men Nguyen. David Chiu calls in the small blind and David Grey comes along in the big blind. The flop comes Jheart8club3diamond and everyone slowly, and I mean slowly, checks to Nguyen who bets 90,000. Chiu folds and Grey decides to call after about a minute. Dwan then thinks things over for about two minutes before asking Nguyen, "Do you have about 750k, Men?" Men says nothing, but his stack is more like 850,000 since he has them stacked in 25's. About a minute later, Dwan raises to 265,000. Vahedi quickly folds and then Nguyen goes into the tank. Nguyen reduces his stacks to 20's in between sips of his Corona as he surveys the situation. After about five minutes of a stare down match with Dwan, he decides to muck his cards. Grey folds shortly afterwards and Dwan says to no one in particular, "That was a good sweat." Dwan picks up almost 250,000 on the hand.

Bryan Devonshire vs. Tommy Le

Level 28: 200,000-400,000, 25,000 ante

With the board showing 10club7club7diamond5club on the turn, Tommy Le bets 150,000 from the big blind, and Bryan Devonshire moves all in from the button. Their chip stacks are close, but Devonshire has more chips. Tommy Le says, "Alright, let me think about this one." He studies the board and Devonshire for about five minutes, agonizing over his decision. Devonshire says nothing, and is pretty motionless. Eventually, someone calls a clock, and Tommy Le lets the count get all the way to zero, giving him a dead hand. He mucks, and Devonshire carefully rechecks his cards before showing just one -- the Aclub. (FYI, we do know the preflop action. Devonshire raised from the button to 44,000, and Tommy Le called from the big blind.) Devonshire takes the pot, building his stack to about 1.06 million, while Tommy Le drops down to 470,000.

T.J. Cloutier Eliminated in 34th Place ($65,955)

Level 28: 200,000-400,000, 25,000 ante

T.J. Cloutier raises from early position to 40,000, and Gus Hansen calls from the big blind. The flop comes 7diamond6spade3club, Hansen checks, Cloutier bets 100,000, Hansen thinks for about a minute before raising to 500,000, and Cloutier quickly says, "I'm all in." Hansen pauses for a moment before he calls with 6diamond3spade for two pair. Cloutier shows 8club8spade for an overpair. Cloutier needs to improve or he's out. The turn is the Aspade, the river is the 10diamond, and Gus Hansen wins the pot with two pair, sixes and threes, building his chipleading stack to 2.9 million. T.J. Cloutier is eliminated in 34th place, earning $65,955. As he leaves, he can't help but tell several people how Gus Hansen called a preflop raise with 6-3 offsuit and snapped him off by flopping two pair.

Jonathan Kalmar Doubles Through Robert Mizrachi

Level 28: 200,000-400,000, 25,000 ante

Jonathan Kalmar moves all in from the button for a little more than 200,000, and Andy Black thinks for a while before folding from the small blind. Robert Mizrachi quickly says, "I call," from the big blind, showing 10heart10spade. Kalmar turns over KclubJclub, and it's a race situation. Black says he was ahead with his ace, and asks Mizrachi if he would have called if Black had called. Mizrachi says no. The board comes KheartQspade9clubAdiamond6heart, and Kalmar wins the pot with a pair of kings, doubling up to about 460,000. Black would have won the pot, and he congratulates Kalmar for talking him into a fold. (I didn't hear what Kalmar said, but whatever it was, it worked.) Robert Mizrachi is still strong with 1.42 million in chips.

Matt Giannetti Eliminated in 35th Place ($65,955)

Level 28: 200,000-400,000, 25,000 ante

With the board showing 10heart9spade4club3club on the turn, Mark Newhouse has a bet of 100,000 in front of him in late position. Matt Giannetti is under the gun, and he thinks a while before moving all in for about 405,000. Newhouse quickly calls, showing 10club9club for top two pair with a flush draw. Giannetti winces -- he didn't want the call. Giannetti still has a shot with AclubQclub for a higher flush draw, but there are only seven clubs left in the deck. The river card is the 8spade, and Mark Newhouse wins the pot with two pair, tens and nines, building his stack to roughly 1.18 million. Matt Giannetti is eliminated in 35th place, earning $65,955.
