Seat 7 reluctantly mucks his cards and West goes into the tank. He finally decides to muck, sending Adams a nice pot for the early stages of the tournament.

996 with 2,000 in the pot Kenna James bets 1,275 from the small blind and the button goes into the tank. The button eventually calls and Kenna flips up QJ. The button mucks and Kenna takes down the pot, he now has 32,000.

My first level at the North American Poker Championship went well. I got really lucky when I got it in bad with bottom set against Rhynie Campbell's top set and another players pocket aces. I spiked quads on the turn and now I'm sitting with 54,000 and the chip lead. It's a good thing I played online this morning and got all of my bad luck out of the way. I played about 10 heads up matches and lost 8 of them. Hopefully my good luck continues here and I can avoid the bad beats from this morning. My table isn't the greatest draw in the world but it's filled with a bunch of calling stations so I'll probably just lay back and value bet my big hands. I'll keep you updated on my progress throughout the day.

Many Canadians are hockey fans, and for one dealer it led to some trouble. Two players were discussing hockey during a hand, and the dealer, clearly a major hockey fan, erupted into a passionate monologue about hockey. This angered several players and after their concerns were voiced, the dealer realized her error and quietly continued her job.

Rhynie Campbell Eliminated

Rhynie Campbell bets 250 preflop and two players call, including Jonathan Little, before Seat 7 raises to 1,000 from late position. Campbell and Little call and the flop rolls out J-9-8. Everyone checks and Seat 7 fires out 10,000. Campbell makes the call and Little moves all in for 17,000. Both Campbell and seat 7 make the call and everyone opens up their hands. Campbell shows pocket jacks, Seat 7 shows pocket aces, and Little rolls over pocket eights. The turn and river cards come 8-7 and Little makes quad eights. Campbell is eliminated on the hand and Little now has 53,000.

Gavin Griffin Takes an Early Hit

Gavin Griffin and four other players limp into a pot preflop and the flop rolls out KK7. Action is checked around to Griffin and he bets 175. Three players fold and one of them exposes A10. Seat one calls in the small blind and the turn brings the 3. Seat one checks and Griffin bets 325 from middle position. Seat one then raises to 650 total. Griffin makes the call and the A peels off the deck on the river. This time seat one leads out for 900 and Griffin goes into the tank. He makes the call and seat one turns up K3 for a full house. Griffin mucks his hand.
