On a board of Kclub9heart8diamondJclub and with more than 50,000 in the pot, Ali Nejad faces an all in bet from Doug Benson.  Nejad tanks for several minutes, appologizing to the table.  Nejad, usually behind the microphone and not sitting at the felt, turns to Sorel Mizzi and asks "How do you guys do this all the time?"

Nejad makes the call and shows Kspade10spade.  Benson shows two queens.

The river is the 6club and Benson is eliminated from the tournament.  Nejad now has 210,000.

Deja Vu For Kimberly Lansing

Level 13: 1,500-3,000, 500 ante

Former WPT Live Updates Hostess Kimberly Lansing had a memorable run in this event last year, picking all the right times to catch a two-outer on the river to double up and stay alive. She ultimately finished in 8th place, which technically became the final table bubble as two players were eliminated in a tie for 6th.

This year, she's on the same path.

She was all in preflop with A-5 against Billy Baxter's A-9. Baxter eliminated her last year, and he was looking to do it again. But the board came 10club10diamond8diamond8club4heart, and it was a chopped pot with the two pair on the board.

Then she was all in preflop with Adiamond10heart against someone's 5diamond5heart. The board came QclubJdiamond7club9club8heart -- Kimberly made a queen-high straight on the river to double up.

Canseco: Adiamond3diamond
Board: 8spade4spade6diamond8club5spade

Day 2 Starts With Plenty of Action

Level 12: 1,200-2,400, 400 ante

The first few minutes of Level 13 have been full of action.  With the average stack being just over 20 big blinds, players are pushing the action.  Here's a look at a few hands:

  • David Hutchinson doubles though Jerry Yang with A-Q against Yang's A-9.  Hutchinson now has 30,000 while Yang drops to 20,000.
  • Billy Baxter eliminates an opponent with pocket Kings.  Baxter shoots up to 130,000.
  • William Hung makes a full house against Joe Sebok on the river.  Hung checked the river card hoping Sebok would bet, however, Sebok just checked it down saving the rest of his 35,000 in chips for another battle.  Hung is currently at 90,000.
