Andre Boyer Eliminated

Level 40: 1,000,000-2,000,000, 300,000 ante

Andre Boyer gets it all in preflop in a pot against Peter Giardano and Seat 6. The flop rolls out 9diamond9spade2heart and Giardano checks, seat six bets 1,000, and Giardano reraises 1,500 more. Seat 6 folds and Giardano turns up 9heart5heart. Boyer turns up pocket sevens and the turn and river hit the table 4diamond10club. Giardano takes down the pot to increase his stack to 17,500 and Boyer is eliminated from the tournament.

Gavin Smith Takes a Pot, Teases Last Year's Champ

Level 40: 1,000,000-2,000,000, 300,000 ante

After a flop of Jclub7spade2heart, the blinds check, Gavin Smith bets 500 from early position, two late position players fold, the small blind folds, and the big blind calls. The turn card pairs the board with the 2diamond, and both players check. The river card is the 5heart, the big blind checks, Smith bets 1,000, and the big blind calls. Smith shows Jheart6heart for two pair, jacks and deuces, and the big blind mucks. Gavin Smith takes the pot, increasing his stack to about 14,000. After the hand, Gavin notices last year's winner Soren Turkewitsch watching from behind the rail, and starts razzing him about not using his victory money from last year ($1.3 million CAD) to bankroll some friends into the tournament.

Gavin Griffin Makes a Solid Laydown

Level 40: 1,000,000-2,000,000, 300,000 ante

The board rolls out 9heart7spade5spade8spade and Gavin Griffin bets 1,550 from late position. The button calls, as does Seat 1 in the small blind. Griffin and Seat 1 check the Qspade on the river and the button fires out 4,500. Seat 1 folds and then Griffin grimaces before he counts out the 14,200 he has left behind him. He eventually mucks Kspade9spade face up on the middle of the table and the button turns up Aspade9club as he collects the pot.

Ty Reiman Takes a Pot

Numerous players limp, and Nick Kusiba raises to 800 from the big blind. Ty Reiman is the only caller, and the flop comes 7club5diamond2club, and Kusiba leads for 1,900. Reiman makes the call and the turn is the 3heart. Kusiba checks, and Reiman bets 3,500. Kusiba makes the call, and the river is the Aheart. Kusiba checks and Reiman bets 4,000. Kusiba flips over his 10diamond10spade and throws it into the much, sending Reiman the pot.

Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman took a big hit right before the dinner break when his Kheart10heart had a player with AspadeAheart all in on a Kclub10spade8spade board. The turn and river came 6spade5spade to bring Freeman’s stack down to 5,000.

Everyone Has a Straight

Gavin Smith limps from middle position for 200, the cutoff calls, the button calls, and Devi Ortega checks her option in the big blind. The flop comes Jspade9heart8club, Ortega and Smith check, the cutoff bets 400, the button folds, Ortega calls, and Smith calls. The turn card is the 10spade, putting an open-ended straight draw on the board, and all three players check. The river card is the Qheart, putting a queen-high straight on the board. Ortega bets 1,000, and her two opponents fold. After the hand, Devi Ortega has about 14,500, and Gavin Smith has about 12,800.

Good Bet

Level 40: 1,000,000-2,000,000, 300,000 ante

Three players limp, the small blind completes, and the big blind checks preflop. The flop is dealt 8club4spade4diamond. Seat 7 opens the action for 500 from middle position and Seat 9 calls from late position. Richard Mallow also calls from late position and both the blinds fold. The Qdiamond falls on the turn and Seat 7 checks. Seat 9 fires out 800 and Mallow bumps things up to 3,000. Seat 7 folds and seat 9 goes into the tank. "Good bet, good bet," says Seat 9 to Mallow. "Had the board not paired I might have called you," he continues, and then tosses his cards into the muck. "More like good fold," says Mallow, who turns up the 4heart as he collects the pot. Mallow takes down the pot and increases his chip lead to 57,250.

Mike "sowers" Takes a Hit

Level 40: 1,000,000-2,000,000, 300,000 ante

Artur Kulczycki raises to 500 and is called by Mike Sowers, Odette Tremblay and Mike Maki and Peter Politis in the blinds. The flop comes Qdiamond8heart6club and it is checked to Kulczychi who moves all in for 5,000. Sowers raises to 19,000 behind him to isolate and everyone folds. Kulczycki shows QspadeJspade but Sowers flopped two pair with 8spade6spade. The turn and river come KclubQheart and Kulczycki rivers trips to put a dent in Sower's stack.

Isaac Baron Doubles Up

Level 40: 1,000,000-2,000,000, 300,000 ante

Isaac Baron and two other players see a flop of Qspade8spade3diamond for 600 a piece. On the second round of betting Baron opens the action for 1,200 under the gun. Seat 2 folds in middle position and the button makes the call. The 7club hits on the turn and Baron checks. The button raises to 1,800 and Baron reraises all in for 6,475 total. The button thinks for a couple minutes and then makes the call. Baron flips up pocket aces and the button turns over pocket fours. The 5club falls on the river and Baron doubles up on the hand to 17,400.
