Final Table Recap

Level 24: -200, 20,000 ante

The final table at the WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic took 120 hands and six hours to complete. The excitement and drama was on full-tilt as one pro and five amateurs battled it out for the $1,331,889 first prize. Ed Jordan started the day off in the chip lead. The rest are listed below… 1) Ed Jordan - 2,510,000 2) Victor Ramdin - 1,800,000 3) Larry Klur - 1,710,000 4) Alex 'Yahtzem' Jacob - 1,030,000 5) John Russell - 643,000 6) Bruce Kater - 540,000 We suffered our first casualty 10 hands into the final table as Bruce Kater (on the button) goes ALL-IN for 532k after Victor Ramdin raised to 120k preflop. Ramdin called and the players showed their cards. Ramdin showed AclubQheart Kater showed Aheart10heart Board came 5clubKclub3heartJspadeJclub; Victor Ramdin won with a pair of Jacks and Ace-King-Queen kicker. Bruce Kater finished in 6th place and takes home $167,008. John Russell lasted a little longer than Kater. On hand 18, Russell went ALL-IN and Victor Ramdin moved ALL-IN behind him. Russell showed AspadeJdiamond Ramdin showed AclubAheart Board came 4club9diamond2heart9club10diamond; Victor Ramdin won with Aces and Nines and busted out another player. John Russell finished in 5th place and took home $208,760 for his efforts. Next to go was Larry Klur, who went from 2.5 million in chips to bust out in 3 hands. In hand 89, Klur (under the gun) raised to 700k and Victor Ramdin pushed ALL-IN (big blind). This was the third time in five hands that Ramdin pushed all-in. Maybe that’s why Klur called him. Klur showed 8spade6spade. Ramdin showed AclubJspade. Board came 2heart4club2diamond7diamond9club; Victor Ramdin doubled up with Ace high to 1.6 million. Two hands later Ed Jordan (under the gun) raised to 400 preflop and Larry Klur (small blind) went ALL-IN for 695k. Jordan called. Jordan showed 4diamond4club Klur showed Aheart7club Flop came Aclub9club5diamond; the Ace gave Klur top pair. Turn came 3diamond; Jordan’s got a six outs. Six outs – a 4 will give him a set and a 2 will him a straight. River came 2diamond; Jordan hits runner-runner for a straight to knock Larry Klur! A tough way to bust out in the final table in 4th place but he did take home $292,264 to soothe his pain. Next to go was Ed Jordan in hand 101. Victor Ramdin limped in from the button, Alex Jacob (small blind) raised to 400k, Ed Jordan called (250k all-in), Ramdin called. Flop came Kdiamond2heart5heart; Jacob fired out 500k and Ramdin folded. Jacob showed Kclub5club Jordan showed 7heart3diamond Turn showed 5diamond; giving Jacob the win and Jordan drawing dead. Jordan finished in 3rd place and earned $417,520. Not bad for four days of work. Down to two players, poker pro Victor Ramdin from the Bronx, NY started heads-up play down 2 to 1 in chips to Yale University senior Alex Jacob from Norwalk, CT. Incidentally, Alex Jacob predicated before the final table today that it would come down to him and Victor. Did he predicate the winner? 16 hands later, Alex Jacob’s fate was put into motion. Jacob limped in from the button and Victor Ramdin (big blind) goes ALL-IN…Jacob’s trap worked, he called. Ramdin shows 9heart9diamond Jacob shows AclubKclub Flop came Qdiamond6diamond9club; Nine on the flop gave him a set. Turn 2heart and river 4heart showed no love for Jacob and his trap backfired. Ramdin doubled up to 4.8 million chips and he evened up the chip counts. Two hands later fate reared its head as Alex Jacob (button) pushed ALL-IN for his 3.74 million and Victor Ramdin (big blind) called immediately. Jacob showed KdiamondJclub Ramdin showed AheartJspade Board came 3spadeQheart7heart8spadeJheart; Ramdin took the hand with his pair of Jacks and ACE-kicker. Jacob earned $655,507 for his 2nd place finish. Victor Ramdin is our WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic champion. He earned $1,331,889 and an automatic seat at the season ending WPT CHAMPIONSHIP at the Bellagio Casino. A little side note about Victor Ramdin. He started a charity called Guinna Watch and by winning the WPT Foxwoods Poker Classic will bring five children from Guinna, West Africa to the United States and pay for their open-heart surgery…A perfect ending to an amazing tournament. Catch you folks at the Bellagio for the WPT World Championships on April 18.
