Here is a short report from the first three levels of play here at WPT Venice.
There are 69 players left from a pretty meagre starting field of 78 players. Over on table one and John Eames looks as depressing as our field size. He still hasn't recovered from his losses holding pocket kings and has a stack of 17,000. The man who last week split €200,000 with Roberto Romanello in a side event at Prague has a lot of work to do. Seated to the direct left of Eames is Heinz Kamutzki with a slightly better 33,000.
The Speranza brothers have just walked into the casino like two hustlers from the wild west. Gianluca is seated on table two with 35,000 chips and Alessandro is sharing table space with Sam El Sayed. Alessandro has 33,000 and El Sayed 42,000.
Over on table three "Mad" Marvin Rettenmaier is one of our early chip leaders with 65,000 chips. Sat to the direct left of the mad one is Roger Hairabedian with 40,000. Also sharing the same table is Luca Cainelli with 17,000 chips.
The Rizzo/Rettenmaier/Baumstein table has split and the three of them have been blown into three separate corners of the room. Scott Baumstein is currently seated on table 4 with 50,000 chips. Also on Baumstein's table is another of our chip leaders, Michele Carloi with 70,000 chips.
Table five is a great looking table with Nicolo Calia in seat 4 (17,000), Giovanni Rizzo in seat 8 (45,000) and Steve O'Dwyer in seat 9 with (80,000). The 80k stack of O'dwyer makes him our early chip leader and he will be hoping to keep hold of it, unlike WPT Prague where it slowly slipped from his grasp.
Table seven is home to Luca Ascani who has amassed an early chunk of chips - 72,000 to be exact. He is sharing a table with Andrulis Kristijonas (23,000).
