19 players have dragged their shoes (one kicking high heels) through the autumn leaves in the surrounding area of the Seven Casino Amneville. As they waltz along in the crisp afternoon air they will have only one thing on their mind - a World Poker Tour final table.
Each year the task of reaching a WPT final table gets more difficult. Last year the tour reserved eight seats and this year there will only be six. Of the 19 players remaining there are several with big time final table experiences under their belts.
Our chip leader Scott Baumstein navigated his way through a similar size field, Stateside, this Summer. He finished 4th at the WSOP $5,000 Shooutout proving he is made of final table material.
Joseph Cheong is famous for making the biggest final table of them all. Last year Cheong finished 4th at the WSOP Main Event and he is looking as likely as anyone to make it to tomorrows final table.
Nesrine Kourdourli reached this very final table last year finishing 4th. She has told us that Amneville is her lucky playground and decided to play here instead of enjoying her birthday party festivities in Paris.
Adrien Allain was the winner of the 2009 Asian Poker Tour in Macau and also final tabled the recent WSOPE 6-max event in Cannes where he was responsible for the battering Phil Hellmuth received.
So we have a lot of final table experience.
The plan is to play until we reach six players or eight levels. The average stack is 72 big blinds so we have plenty of play ahead of us. In the meantime sit back and enjoy Joseph Cheong describing the thought process that goes through his mind when he is going through a hand.
