Shawn Cunix Eliminated by New Chipleader Nenad Medic
Level 14: 2,500-5,000, 500 ante
Photo: Andy Frankenberger (right) watches as Nenad Medic (center) calls a bet on the turn from Shawn Cunix (foreground, left).
After a flop of A75, Shawn Cunix checks the small blind, Nenad Medic bets 21,000 from early position, and Haralabos Voulgaris folds the button. Cunix check-raises to 55,000, and Medic calls.
The turn card pairs the board with the A, Cunix bets 100,000, and Medic calls.
The river card is the A, putting three aces on the board. Cunix says, "All in," and Medic instacalls with AK -- quad aces. Cunix is stunned, and gathers his things to leave.
Someone asks what Cunix had, and he looks at the table and says, "Didn't I show my hand?" He didn't, and the dealer has already mucked his cards. Cunix says he had 7-7 for a flopped set and a turned full house -- that was counterfeited on the river.
With this pot, Nenad Medic takes the chip lead.
