Layne Flack vs. Matt Berkey--The Rematch
Level 16: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante
The very next hand after their big altercation, Matt Berkey limps the button and Layne Flack raises to 15,000 out of the small blind.
"This is exactly how it happened last hand," Berkey says as he calls.
The two see the flop come 963 and both players check. The turn is the 4 and Flack checks a second time. Berkey bets 25,000 and Flack quickly calls.
Before the river comes, Flack checks. As the K hits the felt, Berkey says something and Flack quickly announces "call." Before any chips are exchanged, the dealer tosses the all-in button in front of Berkey.
"No, no," Berkey tells the dealer. "I said one-twenty."
"You said twenty," Flack quickly chimes in. "I heard twenty." A couple of the other players at the table confirm that Berkey said 120, but others at the table aren't sure.
Tournament Director Matt Savage is called over to make a ruling and, after hearing the dealer and others at the table recount the story, he rules that Flack owes Berkey 120,000.
Flack is frustrated. "Don't you think I would have thought about it more if it were 20,000?" The ruling stands though and Berkey takes the pot.
Matt Berkey - 540,000
Layne Flack - 90,000
