Shooting Star: Allen Cunningham
Level 6: 200-400, 50 ante
A couple of weeks ago at the LA Poker Classic, the poker world was reminded just how tough a competitor Allen Cunningham is. The poker pro navigated through one of the largest fields of the season, ultimately busting out in 8th place at the hands of the eventual champion, Gregory Brooks.
Cunningham may not be a full time circuit grinder anymore, but even without playing dozens of tournaments a year, he still manages to maintain his status as one of the best in the game. The five-time WSOP bracelet winner has two WPT final tables and 13 cashes to his credit, along with a fourth place finish in the largest poker tournament in history, the 2006 WSOP Main Event.
His Main Event finish alone netted him over $3.6 million and he has already eclipsed the $10 million mark and he is only 33 years old.
