Cliff Josephy Moves In Against Phil Hellmuth And Gets Him Talking
Level 21: 12,000-24,000, 3,000 ante
Phil Hellmuth raises from middle position to 65,000, Cliff Josephy (a.k.a. Johnny Bax) moves all in from the cutoff for 484,000, and Hellmuth thinks a bit and asks, "Time to finish tenth?" (Of course, with 11 players left, that's not really the case.)
Josephy says, "All I needed was for you to pause. That's all I needed. And you paused." Hellmuth says, "You know I have the nuts, right?" Hellmuth continues to think.
Josephy says, "You want to race? Let's go. You're too good to race, Phil." Hellmuth says, "You can only have three hands: ace-king, queens, or two tens."
Hellmuth folds, and turns over J-J face up. Josephy slides his cards toward Hellmuth as if he is offering Hellmuth a peek, and Hellmuth looks at the cards and smiles. Josephy jokingly accuses Hellmuth of looking at another player's cards and demands that he gets a penalty.
When the other players ask Hellmuth what Josephy had, Hellmuth says, "I can't tell you, because I wasn't supposed to look." However, based on Hellmuth's mood, it seems that Josephy's hand was stronger than a pair of jacks.
Cliff Josephy / Johnny Bax - 600,000 (25 bb)
Phil Hellmuth - 1,773,000 (73 bb)
