Hand #94: Phil Hellmuth's Epic Banter With David Benyamine
Level 24: 25,000-50,000, 5,000 ante
Hand #94 - David Benyamine raises from middle position to 140,000, and Phil Hellmuth reraises from the button to 390,000. Benyamine stops to think, and Hellmuth says, "I know you think I'm weak."
Hellmuth's chip stack is a mess (not in even stacks), and Benyamine asks for a count of his stack. Hellmuth has about another 1.85 million behind. Hellmuth says, "I know you think that if you move in, you will win the hand." Hellmuth offers to show his cards if Benyamine folds.
Benyamine says, "It's not about you, it's about my hand." Benyamine moves all in.
Now Hellmuth asks, "How much do you have left?" Benyamine says, "More than you."
Hellmuth says, "I don't know why you want to do this." Benyamine says, "We have the same hand." Hellmuth says, "We do not have the same hand." Benyamine says, "Why? Do you have three of them?"
David Williams interjects and says, "I've never seen a hand like this with so much giggling." Hellmuth and Benyamine are bantering like it's a home game instead of the final table of the WPT World Championship.
Hellmuth asks for a count of Benyamine's chips, and he has about 2.6 million. Hellmuth says, "I'm this close to shipping it. I know you have queen-deuce." Benyamine says, "I don't have queen-deuce. I have a good hand."
Hellmuth eventually folds, showing A10, and everyone at the table bursts into laughter. Hellmuth asks, "What are you laughing at?"
Williams tells Hellmuth that he will bet $500 that Benyamine has a better hand, and Hellmuth agrees to the bet at $400. Benyamine says, "You're right, I don't have better than an ace," and he shows the K. Benyamine then flips over his other card, the K. Pocket kings. David Williams wins the side bet against Hellmuth.
Benyamine takes the pot and says, "Phil, you just want your TV time." Hellmuth says, "No. The way I'm running, I know the ace is gonna come."
After the hand, Benyamine tells David Williams, "Next time, I'll call the clock."
