Day 3 Recap
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
When we first heard we'd be playing from thirty-six to six, the Live Updates team expected a long day. Instead, thanks to the Bay 101 Shooting Star's unique formatting forcing six-handed play, we had one of the most exciting, unexpected finishes to a day I can remember. Coming into the day, Jeff Madsen and Joe Sebok were the big stories. Two young, charismatic, successful, public pros, the two stood at the top of the standings and appeared poised to make the final table journey together. Instead, both plummeted, with Madsen bowing out in eighth place, then Sebok in seventh. We still have the makings of a great final table. Local Amir Sheyesteh is our chip leader, having eliminated the last two. Joanne "JJ" Liu is not only our last woman, but our final bounty standing, having outlasted Madsen. Of course, having names like Bill Edler and Ted Forrest at your final table generally ensures a good show. Friday afternoon, at 5PM PST, we’ll get the final table under way. Can Amir ride his present run to victory? Can Forrest collect his first WPT win? Can JJ become the first woman to win a WPT? Check back tomorrow for all of the juice as we find out the answers. See you then.

On a flop of K

3
it is checked to JJ Liu who bets T25,000. Amir Sheyesteh calls and Joe Sebok raises all-in. JJ folds and Amir makes the call.
Sebok shows K

for a pair of Kings, but Amir flips over K
Q
for top two pair.
The turn is the A
and the river is the J
, Eliminating Sebok in 7th place. For a hard fought tournament Joe will earn $130,000.

It's Over
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
Fast and brutal. Three hands in to seven-hand play, Sebok hit top pair only to find himself completley outgunned, with Amir Sheyesteh holding the same pair with a paired higher kicker. An ace on the turn meant Joe could hit another ace for the chop, but the way his day went, that wasn't happening. This was a brutal ending for Joe, who's put countless hours into his tournament game over the last couple of years. He's a guy who's more than a little deserving of a little TV time. Still, tomorrow's final table is shaping up to be a good one, with a few other deserving types still in the mix.

Who's Where?
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
We've reseated down to one table. Here's how they've been seated: Ted Forrest James Van Alstyne Joanne "JJ" Liu Vince Shaw Amir Sheyesteh Joe Sebok Bill Edler This works out pretty well for Forrest, who has the big stack right behind the two smallest.

A Shocking Turn
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
If you had offered me a bet three hours ago that neither Jeff Madsen nor Joe Sebok ould make the final table, I'd have given you unbelievable odds. Now, they're looking like the two most likely candidates.
Both of our chip leaders coming into the day have been on massive slides. Their mountainous stacks have whittled away, Joe's to a dry spell of starting hands, Jeff's to a bad run of flops. Both stretches have been brutal to watch.
As I write this, Madsen's just been knocked out. Typical of his day, his A
T
lost on an all-in to Amir Sheyesteh's A
6
. Now we're going to one table; with one more elimination, we're done for the day.

Jeff Madsen Eliminated in 8th Place
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
Vincent Shaw raises and is called by Amir Sheyesteh on the button. Jeff Madsen then raises all in for his last T350,000. Sheyesteh makes the call and shows A

. Madsen shows the better hand with Ace-10.
The board comes A
Q
4
5
10
giving Madsen two pair but Amir makes a club flush. Madsen is eliminated in 8th place collecting $100,000.

Jeff Madsen on a Downward Slide
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
Nothing seems to be going right for Jeff Madsen right now. He just lost a pot to Joanne "JJ" Liu with pocket Jacks, and lost another sizable hands just moments earlier when Amir Sheyesteh caught a straight on the river to beat him out of chips. Currently he is down to T400,000.

Madsen picks up a pot
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
Jeff Madsen raises to T30,000 pre-flop.
Amir Sheyesteh calls from the big blind.
Flop comes A
4
A
Both players check.
Turn is the 2
Both players check.
River is the K
Amir checks. Madsen bets T50,000. Amir calls.
Madsen shows K
Q
and Amir mucks.
Madsen has had a bit of a rough time since returning from dinner break. He's lost a few little pots here and there. He's slowly coming back to life.

News and Notes
Level 8: 120,000-240,000, 30,000 ante
- Ted Forrest is going to town. He took a bunch off of Joe Sebok then took half of Bill Edler's stack. He's our leader now. - Sebok seems determined to make this final table. He was playing some great, aggressive poker earlier, but he's since declines into a passive mode. I wonder if the importance of a televised final table to Joe's multimedia aspirations might be affecting his decisions. - Jeff Madsen is the most aggressive player left, but it's coming back to haunt him. Jeff has lost close to a million chips since his zenith and is looking frustrated. - Edler's following up a seventh place finish at the LAPC with this performance is simply remarkable. Throw in his cash at Borgata and his win at the Heads-Up Championships in Compton and we may be talking about the hottest player on the circuit right now. General consensus in these parts is that it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Bill's still looking cool and relaxed, and he just coubled up off of Sebok. - Props to JJ Liu for wearing her "I knocked out David Williams" shirt at the table. She's a great lady.
