Day 4 Recap

Level 6: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante

Today was a marathon. Starting with eighteen players, we had hopes of being done by five or six o’clock. Now, it’s 9:40, and we just had our final hand, with Carl Restifo finally losing his fight against the ever-increasing blinds. Our massive chip leader is Raj Patel. One of four locals at the final table, Patel has over T3.3 million, over a third of the chips in play. Patel, whose play has been marked by a remarkable streak of conservatism, holds better than a 2:1 advantage over all of his competition. In an event where the pros got decimated by the field of amateurs, only two managed to survive the day. Allen Kessler is the only player at the final table who’s been there before. Fred Goldberg, who’s been traveling the circuit since his tenth place finish at the World Series in 2006, finally has another feather for his cap. Petel, Kessler and Goldberg are joined by three more Foxwoods locals; Day three chip leader Tony Cavezza, Seth Berger and Paul Matteo. Wednesday, the surviving six will gather at 5 PM EST to determine who will walk away with over $1.2 million. Be here then for all of the updates as we crown a new Foxwoods Poker Classic champion.

Jen's Place: Whew!

Level 6: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante

With the elimination of Carl Restifo, we have reached the goal of six for the TV table that will play out tomorrow. So sorry for Carl, but for us who are having a long day… whew! Tomorrow’s action should be fun – quite a few new names, some massive disparity in the chip stacks, and some interesting personalities are sure to shine through. Personally, I’m rooting for a Bagels (Cavezza) versus Berger heads-up battle – purely for the play on words that I can use for entertainment. Regardless, it’ll be great WPT action. Don’t miss a moment!

No Exit

Level 6: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante

I think we've reached a point in the tournament where, if 7-2 offsuit got all-in against pocket aces with the 7-2 the shorter of the two stacks, it would win on principle. The all-in never loses. Jean-Paul Sartre wrote that the nature of hell was unrequited love. The only reason he did so is he didn't experience this.

Kessler Doubles Up with Aces Against Kings

Level 6: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante

Allen Kessler raises to T125,000. Ted Lawson then moves all in from the button. Raj Patel thinks for a good minute before mucking his hand. When action gets back to Kessler he makes the call and shows AclubAdiamond. Lawson shows KclubKheart. The board comes 3spade3diamond7club6diamond4heart and Kessler doubles up through Lawson. Raj claims that he folded pocket 3's, and would have taken out both players if he had call. After the hand Lawson is only left with T154,000.

From One Slow Ride to Another

Level 6: 150,000-300,000, 30,000 ante

Action has started back up here at the final table. Some of us were lucky enough to catch Foghat perform their song, "Slow Ride," at a free show during the break. I can't think of a more fitting song title for today's play.
