Adam Csallany was born in Athens, Greece, birthplace of the Olympic Games, so it was no surprise when he moved to the United States in his youth and took up cards as a hobby. He settled in Roseville, Minnesota and pursued a degree in computer science at the University of Minnesota.
While poker has remained a hobby for many years, Adam finally decided to try his hand at live tournaments. In 2001, he did just that when he placed second at one of the introductory tournaments at the Australian Poker Championships.
Adam mainly spent his spare time playing cash games, but in 2005, he took a trip on the PartyPoker Million cruise. He ended up playing in the World Poker Tour's limit hold'em main event, and by using patience and selective aggression, he made it through a massive field of opponents to end up at the final table. Finishing in fourth place, he collected $500,000 for his efforts.
