Al Ardebili has always been a focused individual who knows what he wants and goes after it with full force. As a youngster in New York City, he was focused on his education, working his way through school and eventually becoming a successful private investor in equity markets and real estate. He settled down in New Jersey, where he enjoys his life with his career and his wife. All in all, poker played a relatively minor role in his life, though he always relished in the games he played in college with friends. He learned about poker through family home games, but truly learning the ins and outs of poker didn't happen until his college days.
Other than weekend trips to Atlantic City, Al didn't spend too much time on poker until he saw the popularity of his hobby grow. He decided to try his hand at tournaments, and though he cashed at a small tournament at the Sands in 2003, it wasn't until 2005 that he became more serious about doing well. Putting his nose to the grindstone, he played in more events in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, accumulating some impressive cashes, even two at World Series of Poker.
In September of 2005, Al found his way into the World Poker Tour main event at the Borgata Poker Open and used his typical intense focus and determination to work his way through the massive field. He did the same at the final table and won the tournament for nearly $1.5 million and a WPT title. Since then, he has been spotted at tournaments around the United States and exotic locations like Monte Carlo. Most recently, he placed third at the $5000 H.O.S.E. event on the WSOP circuit in May of 2006, and he will most certainly be looking to add more poker titles to his resume in the future.
