Anajit Galajian, known to her friends as Ana, began her life in Iran but made her way to the Southern California region with her family at a young age. Though she had many personal and professional goals set for her life, it was poker that captured her attention and eventually turned into more than a pastime.
With numerous friends and associates already climbing the poker ladder, Anajit received guidance from some of the best players that frequented the Los Angeles area card rooms. In the late 1990's she was playing cash games and slowly but surely moving up in limits, with her skill level improving consistently. In 1998, she decided to try her abilities in tournaments, and after she placed 8th in a limit hold'em tournament at the L.A. Poker Open that year, she decided to pursue tournaments as well as cash games.
After several more tournament cashes, Anajit made the move to play poker on a professional basis in 2000. While cash games remained her focus for income, she continued to tweak her tournament game over the years. It was in 2006 that the poker world as a whole took notice when she played in the World Poker Tour's L.A. Poker Classic at Commerce Casino in California and ended up finishing in 7th place, just one spot away from a televised final table. Her solid, structured play was hailed by fellow players, and her stellar finish spurred her on to more success, including several WPT cashes and seven World Series of Poker cashes in only three years. Her appearance on the WPT Ladies Night table in 2006 ended in a third place finish but solidified her reputation in the poker world as an up-and-coming player to be feared in any game.
