First time was the charm for Season VIII LA Poker Classic Champion Andras Koroknai. The Hungarian made his way to Los Angeles to take part in the LA Poker Classic action and won his way into his first WPT event via single table satellite. Fast forward a few days and Koroknai picked up one of the biggest paydays of the season, defeating the massive field of 745 runners to pick up the win and the nearly $1.8 million payday.

The win at Commerce was Koroknai’s first big score and the first WPT win for a Hungarian player. On the strength of his LAPC win alone, Koroknai ranks as the second most successful Hungarian player in history. While his LAPC win remains his largest score by a margin, Koroknai has posted a few results, including an in-the-money finish at the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event.
