Robert Hwang hails from Clark, New Jersey and has always had a penchant for various gaming activities. But in the early 1990's, he was seeking a way out to get away from negative-expectation casino games, which was how he came upon poker. After taking some years to perfect his game, he found it to be profitable enough to play on the professional circuit. Beginning in 2003, Bob took to the tournament circuit and soon found that he could compete with the best of the best. He cashed in two low buy-in tournaments in 2003, then took his game to a higher level by 2005. Bob won the $1,500 no-limit hold'em tournament at the 2005 Borgata Poker Open for a payday of $129,600. In that same series, he played the World Poker Tour's main event and made it to the televised final table. Finishing in fifth place, he collected nearly $300,000 for his performance. Since then, he has had several other significant cashes, including the WPT's Foxwoods Poker Classic in 2007 and the World Series of Poker's $1,500 no-limit hold'em event in 2007. "Action Bob" is a favorite of many in the cash game arena, but his biggest fans are his wife and twin children with whom he spends the majority of his time.
