A native of West Fargo, North Dakota, Brook Lyter seemed to have an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age, dreaming big with plans for numerous business endeavors and willing to work hard enough to make those dreams come true. By the early 1990's, he was doing just that; he owned several bars and a DJ service in his hometown.

After many years of playing poker with friends and becoming quite skilled at many of the game's variations, Brook saw another business opportunity when poker's popularity surged. With so many friends and business associates who shared his love of the game, he formed a bar poker league in the upper Midwest region of the United States that has grown to encompass more than 100 bars and offers free poker tournaments in bars across Middle America. In the process, his own game has been taken to new heights, and he chose to test that out on the tournament circuit.

Brook found it difficult to take time from his many businesses and the dedication to his bar league to travel to tournaments much, but when he did, he made a big splash in the poker world. In 2006, he traveled to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure hosted by the World Poker Tour and played in the main event. He ended up at the final televised table and finished as the runner-up for a cool $681,500 in prize money. This business entrepreneur's name will go down in WPT history but will also be hailed for his own contributions to poker by bringing it to locations across America.
